Matthew Stafford's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 13 (2023). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Matthew Stafford for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Start In 10-Team Superflex Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB2
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is coming off of his best game of the 2023 NFL season, going 25-for-33 for 229 yards and four touchdowns in a 37-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He also was picked off once.
It was a good showing, but it doesn't erase the fact that Stafford just hasn't looked like vintage Stafford this season. The win over the Cardinals was just the second time all season that Stafford has thrown multiple touchdown passes in a game and marked his fourth game in a row with an interception.
Overall, Stafford is completing 60.8% of his pass attempts this season, his lowest mark since 2014. He's thrown 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Still, he's averaged 248.9 passing yards per game, so it's not like Stafford has been a complete non-entity.
This week, Stafford has a very tough matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns allow just 142.0 passing yards per game, by far the fewest in the NFL. Baltimore ranks second and allows 171.7.
This matchup plus the lack of touchdown upside makes Stafford a low-end QB2 option. You can play him in a two-quarterback league, but he shouldn't be in your lineup in leagues with just one starting QB.
