Fantasy Football Injury Reports For NFL RBs: Week 6 Updates for Saquon Barkley, Austin Ekeler, Jahmyr Gibbs, Keaontay Ingram

Jaymyr Gibbs - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

Fantasy football RB injury updates and reports for Week 6 (2023), as of 10/14, including Saquon Barkley, Austin Ekeler, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Keaontay Ingram.

Below you will find our fantasy football injuries report for running backs in Week 6, as of October 14. The injury statuses for various NFL running backs are up in the air for Week 6, including Saquon Barkley, Austin Ekeler, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Keaontay Ingram.

As the fantasy football season continues, every decision, transaction, and lineup change matters. These are critical running back injuries to keep track of throughout the week. Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football.

To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NFL, make sure to favorite or bookmark the fantasy football player news page, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy football mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news. Let's look at the updates for some running backs and see whether they may play in Week 6.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Saquon Barkley Injury Update

Barkley (ankle) is questionable for Week 6 after practicing in a limited capacity this past week. The star Giants running back has logged nine consecutive limited practices over the last three weeks, yet he hasn't played in a game since Week 2 versus Arizona. The fact that Giants-Bills kicks off at 8:20 p.m. EST makes it very difficult for managers to make lineup decisions, but there's no denying that Barkley is a low-end fantasy RB1 if he plays.

Austin Ekeler Injury Update

Ekeler (ankle) practiced in full on Thursday and Friday. Barring a setback, he will be removed from the final injury report heading into Monday Night Football versus the Cowboys. Fantasy managers should deploy him as a high-end RB1 in his return.

Jahmyr Gibbs Injury Update

Gibbs (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 6 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The rookie will miss his second consecutive game after failing to practice this past week. David Montgomery will continue to operate as the Lions' lead back, ranking as a strong RB1 option.

Keaontay Ingram Injury Update

Ingram (neck) upgraded to a full participant on Friday and does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Rams. His return comes at a perfect time for the Cardinals after James Conner (knee) was placed on injured reserve. Rookie Emari Demercado may be the flashier option, but Ingram is listed No. 1 on the depth chart for now. He's a low-end RB3/FLEX play this week.

Tony Pollard Injury Update

Pollard (shoulder) upgraded to a full participant on Friday. Barring a major setback, he will log another full session on Saturday, paving the way for him to play in Week 6 without any limitations. He ranks as a high-end RB1 versus the Chargers.

Miles Sanders Injury Update

Sanders (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 6 versus the Dolphins. Chuba Hubbard will operate as Carolina's lead back on Sunday. Although Miami's offense could make it difficult for the Panthers to run a lot, the Dolphins' defense has been relatively poor versus opposing running backs. Hubbard will get involved both on the ground and through the air.

Khalil Herbert Injury Update

Herbert (ankle) was ruled out for Week 6 and subsequently placed on injured reserve. He suffered the injury during Thursday Night Football against the Commanders last week. With John">Johnson" data-id="24372">Roschon Johnson (concussion) and Travis Homer (hamstring) also sidelined, D'Onta Foreman is expected to start at running back for the Bears. He ranks as a fantasy RB3 versus Minnesota.

De'Von Achane Injury Update

Achane (knee) was always considered a longshot to play in Week 6, but the Dolphins made it official by placing him on injured reserve. He'll miss at least four games, leaving Raheem Mostert as the team's lead back. He is a fringe top-12 fantasy running back ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Jerome Ford Injury Update

Ford (knee) upgraded to a full participant in practice on Thursday and logged another full session on Friday. He has been removed from the injury report and will play in Week 6, though it's tough to trust him in fantasy football against a dominant 49ers defensive front.

Jeff Wilson Jr. Injury Update

Wilson (ribs, finger) has been listed as doubtful for Week 6 versus the Panthers. The veteran running back is still on injured reserve, and it looks unlikely that he'll be activated prior to kickoff on Sunday. Salvon Ahmed will operate as the clear backup to Mostert.

Roschon Johnson Injury Update

Johnson (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Vikings. As mentioned already, the Bears' backfield is dealing with a plethora of injuries and will be forced to start D'Onta Foreman in Week 6.

Elijah Mitchell Injury Update

Mitchell (knee) is questionable for Week 6 versus the Browns. He was a limited participant in practice on Friday and presumably has a shot to play on Sunday after missing the last two games. If active, he will operate behind Christian McCaffrey, ranking as a fantasy RB4.

Keaton Mitchell Injury Update

Mitchell (shoulder) practiced in full all week long but remains questionable to play Sunday versus Tennessee. Although the rookie has yet to make his NFL debut, he could offer valuable depth behind Gus Edwards and Justice Hill sooner rather than later.

Gary Brightwell Injury Update

Brightwell (ankle) is questionable to play against the Bills on Sunday night. He missed practice on Thursday while logging a pair of limited sessions on Wednesday and Friday. New York's backfield is banged up with both Brightwell and Barkley listed as questionable, though the latter is the only Giants running back worth starting in fantasy football.

Rashaad Penny Injury Update

Penny (illness) practiced in full all week long and has been removed from the injury report ahead of Sunday's game versus the Jets. Although Penny has been cleared to play, he could still be inactive if the Eagles pick Kenny Gainwell and Boston Scott to back up D'Andre Swift.

Kene Nwangwu Injury Update

Nwangwu (back) practiced in full this week, but he is listed as questionable and not expected to be activated from injured reserve before kickoff on Sunday.

Zonovan Knight Injury Update

Knight (shoulder) has been placed on injured reserve and will not return this season. The 22-year-old has been nothing more than a depth piece for the Lions, playing in just two games while earning four touches.

Travis Homer Injury Update

Homer (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Vikings. As mentioned already, Foreman will start at running back in Week 6 amidst a slew of injuries.
