Joe Mixon Injury Update
Earlier this week, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 provided a much-needed update on Mixon's potential timetable. Texans general manager Nick Caserio noted that his status for the "duration of the season" has not been defined. However, Wilson noted that Caserio did not specify if Mixon has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

While the Texans appear to be leaving the door open for a potential late-season return, fantasy managers should not count on this. Given that Mixon has yet to participate in any practices, he does not appear to be on the verge of a return.
Managers should expect him to remain on the non-football injury/reserve list for the foreseeable future, which will leave Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks as the clear running backs in Houston.
Joe Mixon Fantasy Football Outlook
Given his current status and unlear timeline, managers should only consider stashing Mixon in formats that have IR spots. Managers in standard leagues that do not have IR spots should consider cutting Mixon ahead of Week 6, as the team is still unsure of whether he can play a role later in the campaign.
Chubb has settled in quite nicely into the lead role throughout the opening month. In five games, Chubb has posted a strong 4.3 YPC, which is a significant increase from he 3.3 YPC he averaged during his final season in Cleveland in 2024. He has also punched in two touchdowns and logged double-digit attempts in all but one game.
The rookie, Marks, has also begun to carve out a prominent role. While he took the backset in Week 5, in Week 4, Marks scored two touchdowns and tallied an impressive 27.9 PPR points. He is slowly seeing his role as a pass catcher increase, which could limit Mixon's upside if he were to return.
Instead of stashing Mixon, managers should look to stash other IR candidates like Jalen Coker (quadriceps) and Christian Watson (knee), who have a much clearer timetable and have an easier path to make more of an impact this season.
