Will Travis Etienne Jr. See A Full Workload In 2023? Fantasy Football Outlook

Travis Etienne Jr. - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Will Travis Etienne Jr. See A Full Workload In 2023? Will Travis Etienne Jr. be a bust? Read the 2023 fantasy football outlook.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. was a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Etienne had an excellent college career, totaling 686 rushing attempts for 4,952 yards and 70 touchdowns. Furthermore, he had 102 receptions for 1,155 receiving yards and eight touchdowns during his four years at Clemson.

While fantasy players were excited to see the first-round running back in the NFL, Etienne missed his rookie season with a significant tear to the Lisfranc ligament in his foot. He suffered the injury during the Week 2 preseason matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

However, the young running back had a productive 2022 season. Etienne had 220 rushing attempts for 1,125 yards and five touchdowns. Furthermore, he had 35 receptions on 45 targets for 316 receiving yards. More importantly, the former Clemson star finished ninth in the NFL in rushing yards last year.

Will Travis Etienne Jr. See A Full Workload In 2023?

Etienne started last year splitting the backfield work with James Robinson. However, the Jaguars traded Robinson to the New York Jets in Week 8. Following the trade, the former Clemson star became the featured running back.

Last year the former first-round pick had five games with 100 or more rushing yards. However, Jacksonville added to their running back room this offseason, signing D’Ernest Johnson in free agency. More importantly, the Jaguars spent a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on Tank Bigsby.

The former Auburn star had 10 rushing touchdowns in 2022. Furthermore, Bigsby had 540 rushing attempts for 2,903 yards and 25 touchdowns in his three years at Auburn. Unfortunately, the addition of the rookie running back means Etienne won’t have a featured role this season.

Should Fantasy Players Draft Travis Etienne Jr.?

Bigsby will get the goal-line rushing working. However, Etienne should make up for that in the passing game.

While the former Clemson star won’t be a featured running back in 2023, he is still a solid fantasy pick. According to Underdog Fantasy, Etienne has an ADP of 36.9 and is the 12th running back off the board. Fantasy players should feel confident drafting the third-year running back at his current ADP.
