Welcome back to another edition of the FREE DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks. We're set for Game 4 of the Fall Classic on Wednesday night, with the Phillies entering the contest enjoying a 2-1 series edge after their 7-0 victory Tuesday night.
The player pool is naturally limited on a single-game ledger, and there are also differences between the contest structures on either site. On DraftKings, Showdown contests include the team's starting pitchers in the player pool, while FanDuel's single-game contests do not. Additionally, Showdown contests have just one roster spot that accrues fantasy points at an enhanced rate -- the Captain's spot, which carries a 1.5x multiplier -- while FD's single-game cash games and tournaments have an MVP (2x multiplier) and STAR (1.5x multiplier) spot.
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 11/2/2022 for the single-game slate for Game 4 of the World Series locking at 8:03 pm ET. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports. DraftKings Pitcher Candidate
Cristian Javier – at PHI ($16,800 - Captain, 1.5 points/ $11,200 - Utility)
Javier has been about as impressive in the postseason as he was during his stellar 2022 regular campaign, bouncing back from a bit of a rocky relief outing against the Mariners to fire 5.1 scoreless, one-hit innings against the Yankees in Game 3 of the ALCS in an outing that included five strikeouts and three walks.
During the regular season, Javier generated a 2.84 ERA, 1.0 WHIP, 12.1 K/9, and 0.9 HR/9 across 73 road games, along with an elite .186 BAA and .255 wOBA. The Phillies are naturally a dangerous lineup and there are some hitters from their side I'll be recommending, but it's impossible to avoid that on a single-game slate.
Houston's potent lineup is due for a bit of a breakout and Aaron Nola has proven vulnerable at times, especially at home, so Javier gets the nod for me in a must-win game for the Astros, even if he does give up a couple of runs in the process.

Captain (1.5x Points)/ MVP (2x Points) Candidates
Bryce Harper – vs. Cristian Javier ($15,000 DK, $9,500 FD)
Harper is one of those Phillies bats worth rostering against Javier in the same lineup, as he naturally can pay off his salaries with one swing of the bat. Harper slugged his sixth postseason homer Tuesday, pushing his RBI total to 13 in the process. With 11 extra-base hits since the start of the playoffs and a .298 average, 1.020 OPS, .416 wOBA, and 170 wRC+ against righties at home this past regular season, Harper's case is airtight despite the tough pitching matchup.
Kyle Tucker - at Aaron Nola ($13,800 DK, $7,500 FD)
Tucker tied a career-best with 30 homers and knocked in a career-high 107 RBI during the regular season, and he owns a .250 average, three homers, and five RBI in the postseason. Tucker not only has the long-ball upside for this maximum multiplier spot, but he also posted a .306 average, 1.010 OPS, and .424 wOBA against righties on the road during the regular season. What's more, he's enjoyed a fair amount of success against Nola in the past, with both his hits against the veteran righty in four career plate appearances leaving the yard.
DraftKings Utility/FanDuel STAR (1.5x Points)/Utility Candidates
Yordan Alvarez - at Aaron Nola ($9,600 DK, $9,000 FD)
Alvarez's salaries have certainly taken a bit of a dive given the slump he's mostly been mired in, but that's precisely what makes him a great tournament play on a one-game slate. The MVP candidate obviously didn't forget how to hit overnight, although his 8-for-40 showing this postseason is clearly well below his standards.
However, one could make an argument Alvarez is way overdue for a homer by his own metrics, as he left the yard once every 15.2 plate appearances during the regular season but has now gone 39 PAs without one dating back to Game 3 of ALDS against the Mariners.
Nola was very effective against lefty batters at home this season (.179 BAA, .246 wOBA), but 13 of the 30 hits he surrendered in that split went for extra bases. Meanwhile, Alvarez absolutely crushed right-handed pitching on the road this season, posting a .329 average, 1.080 OPS, and .450 wOBA in that split.
Jose Altuve – at Aaron Nola ($9,000 DK, $8,500 FD)
Altuve had been heating up at the plate before going 0-for-4 Tuesday, as he'd gone 6-for-14 in the previous three postseason games. The veteran second baseman posted a .363 wOBA and matching .363 OBP during the regular season against righties on the road, along with 19 XBH (nine doubles, 10 homers) in that split. Meanwhile, Nola yielded a .420 slugging percentage to right-handed hitters in his home park, largely the byproduct of surrendering 14 doubles and seven homers in that split.
Brandon Marsh - vs. Cristian Javier ($6,000 DK, $5,000 FD)
Marsh makes for an interesting utility play on either site given both his Game 3 performance and past history versus Javier, whom he knows well from his days in the American League. The outfielder has pummeled Javier for a .571 average with a double in seven career encounters, and he went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and an additional run in Tuesday's Game 3 win.
Marsh was also a terror against righty arms at Citizens Bank Park from his move to Philly at the deadline through the end of the regular season -- posting a .341 average, .845 OPS, and .366 wOBA in that split over a sample of 42 plate appearances -- and he smacked a three-run home run off the Braves' Charlie Morton in the decisive Game 4 of the NLDS.
