Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Tez Johnson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Tez Johnson made the most of Emeka Egbuka's (concussion/foot) absence in Sunday's 43-13 win over Carolina. Johnson played 41 offensive snaps, compared to 35 for Ted Hurst III, and caught both targets for 33 yards and a touchdown while adding a 14-yard rush. Hurst went without a reception on one target.
Baker Mayfield attempted just 11 passes in the blowout but praised Johnson's two key scramble-drill catches afterward. Johnson has nine receptions for 178 yards this season, and his increased involvement makes him an appealing Week 8 pickup, especially if Egbuka remains sidelined against Atlanta.
Wan'Dale Robinson, New York Giants
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson logged 38 offensive snaps (60%) in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns while Carnell Tate and Elic Ayomanor each played 56 snaps and drew seven targets. Robinson can be dropped in 10-team leagues and is expendable in most 12-team formats, particularly outside full PPR, while managers in 14-team PPR leagues can retain him as receiving depth, although Tennessee's Week 9 bye makes that decision less appealing.
He also failed to capitalize on Calvin Ridley's (hip) absence in the loss, catching four of six targets for just seven yards. His snap share has fallen from 75% in Week 5, and he has converted 13 targets into just seven receptions for 29 yards over his past two appearances. His 43 targets through seven games suggest he remains involved in the offense, but those opportunities have yielded only 205 yards at 7.1 yards per reception.
Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars
Several NFL executives believe that Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.'s days with the team are numbered, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Fowler notes Thomas's diminished role and, like the now-Texans wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., suggests that a change of scenery could bring out the best in Thomas.
In six games, Thomas has caught nine of 20 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown, a severe decline from his historic 2024 rookie season. The third-year receiver has not caught a pass since Week 4 and played just 21% of snaps in Week 6, while Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, and rookie Josh Cameron played significantly more. With the Jaguars' crowded receiving room and Thomas's high draft capital and stellar rookie production, teams could pay up for the former 1,300-yard receiver.
Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice (hamstring) was officially limited on Wednesday in his return to practice, according to the team. Rice suffered a hamstring injury in the Week 4 victory over the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders and has missed each of the last two games, despite having the Week 5 bye to rest up. Wednesday was the 26-year-old's first practice since getting hurt, which will give him a chance to return to action this weekend versus the division-rival Denver Broncos in Week 8.
Rice will most likely need to ramp up to a full practice by Friday to avoid a questionable tag going into the weekend. After having a minor knee procedure in the offseason, the former second-rounder from SMU has left a lot to be desired with his fantasy managers, as he has recorded only 13 catches on 17 targets for 190 yards and one touchdown in his four games played.
He will be more volatile as a starting WR option in fantasy if he returns to face a Broncos defense that could be getting top cornerback Patrick Surtain II (ankle) back from a multi-game absence.
Keaton Mitchell, Los Angeles Chargers
Across six games in 2026, Los Angeles Chargers running back Keaton Mitchell has recorded 191 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 42 touches. Coming into the year, the 24-year-old was expected to play a backup role behind fellow Chargers back Omarion Hampton.
However, Los Angeles has recently shifted to a three-way backfield committee that features Hampton, Mitchell, and Kimani Vidal. Mitchell saw very minimal usage in the Chargers' final game before their Week 7 bye, recording two carries for four yards in Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, the Chargers' uncertain backfield roles could create an opportunity for Mitchell to break through as the team's preferred option. In deeper leagues, Mitchell could be worth targeting on the waiver wire heading into Week 8.
