Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Keon Coleman, Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman has caught 19 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns through six games, including a 116-yard performance against New England in Week 4. Coleman has scored in three straight contests, but his target volume remains inconsistent.
He has received two or fewer targets in three games, including a one-catch, seven-yard touchdown performance in Week 5. Coleman played 85% of Buffalo's offensive snaps in Week 6 with DJ Moore (shoulder) sidelined, but Moore could return following the team's bye. Coleman is worth rostering for his upside, although his inconsistent opportunities make him a risky WR3/flex option against Baltimore in Week 8.
Rachaad White, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders running back Rachaad White is expected to remain the lead back ahead of the Week 8 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Fellow back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) is still on the Injured Reserve, so White should continue seeing a larger role in the backfield. In Week 6, White carried the ball seven times for 27 yards, but he did most of his damage in the receiving game.
White hauled in four of his five targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The 27-year-old is a dual-threat back who could help needy fantasy managers in Week 8. There's probably not a ton of long-term value here with White, but he'll be a decent flex option for this weekend.
Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was unable to find much success during Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. He hauled in two of his three targets for 20 yards in the victory. It was a quiet day for basically all the Vikings' pass-catchers as this team struggled to move the ball through the air.
Addison hasn't been much of a fantasy option this season outside of his 90-yard game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3. Fantasy managers can be hopeful for better days ahead with a favorable matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 8. At this point, Addison should be considered a low-end WR3 until he proves that he can produce consistently.
A.J. Brown, New England Patriots
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has no concerns about wide receiver A.J. Brown and his early-season struggles. On Monday morning, Vrabel said, "I thought he dropped a few passes. I don't think anybody has to press here or anything else. I think we just have to get back into a rhythm offensively with the guys we have."
In three games, Brown has caught nine of 20 targets for 101 yards and no touchdowns, with three drops. In his first game with New England, he suffered a high-ankle sprain that placed him on injured reserve, causing him to miss four games. Now healthy and with quarterback Drake Maye playing at a high level since Week 4, Brown should bounce back unless he continues to struggle. Fantasy managers should view Brown as a buy-low candidate, as he should produce WR2 numbers moving forward.
D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift totaled 78 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in Thursday's 30-24 home win over the New England Patriots. He added 12 yards on four receptions. Swift had another inefficient day on the ground, but he scored for the fourth time in three appearances and still got a decent target share (four).
Stats aside, Swift looked spry and is a nice fit in Chicago's outside zone scheme. It doesn't seem likely the 27-year-old will see many more 20-plus-carry games, especially with backfield mate Kyle Monangai (toe, thumb) due back eventually. However, the former doesn't need workhorse volume to remain effective for fantasy when he's an ever-present threat to cash in on a touchdown. Swift and the Bears will face stiffer competition on the road their next time out against the Seattle Seahawks.
