Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange is coming off a relatively quiet game in Week 1. Strange didn't do much in terms of receptions or yardage, but salvaged his fantasy value with a touchdown. He caught two of his three targets for 23 yards, including a 14-yard score in the second quarter. Strange is the clear No. 1 tight end in this high-profile passing offense, which could be good news for fantasy managers.
He recorded a career-high 540 receiving yards this past season and is being slept on in fantasy leagues. Strange isn't an elite option, but he profiles as a solid TE2 for a Week 2 tilt against the Broncos.
Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki gave fantasy managers a reason to notice him again Sunday, catching five of seven targets for 78 yards and a touchdown against Tampa Bay. He led Cincinnati in targets, receptions and receiving yards. The catch is how little he actually played. Gesicki was on the field for only 21 offensive snaps while Drew Sample played 42, with Erick All Jr. also part of the rotation.
Still, 17 of Gesicki's snaps came on passing routes. When Cincinnati wanted him on the field, it was usually to catch the ball. That is enough to make his 1% Yahoo roster rate interesting after one week. RotoBaller has Gesicki 34th among its Week 2 waiver options and recommends him in 14-team leagues. Houston is a tougher matchup, so managers do not need to force him into lineups yet.
In deeper formats, though, Gesicki is worth adding to see if Week 1 was the start of something. He projects to carry high-end TE2 upside in Week 2.
T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson opened 2026 with four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown on five targets in Sunday's 39-22 win over Green Bay. The score came on a 16-yard pass from Carson Wentz, who took over after Kyler Murray left in the first quarter with a concussion. It was a better fantasy line than Hockenson gave managers most weeks last season, when he finished with 51 catches for 438 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games.
Five targets still do not suddenly make him an every-week starter, especially in an offense with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings. Murray also remains in the concussion protocol, leaving Minnesota's Week 2 quarterback situation unsettled for now. Hockenson is back in the streaming conversation after finding the end zone, but this is still a deeper-league play rather than a priority claim.
Managers looking for help at tight end can consider him for Sunday's trip to Chicago, particularly in 14-team formats.
Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. caught just two of his three targets for 21 yards during Sunday's Week 1 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 22-year-old is looking to build on an impressive rookie campaign in which he ranked as the TE6 with 72 catches, 731 yards, and six touchdowns. He still has that top-six upside, but Sunday's disappointing game is a step in the wrong direction.
Fannin's struggles were partly the product of poor quarterback play, as Deshaun Watson finished with just 16 completions, 205 yards, one interception, and one garbage-time touchdown. If there's any reason to be optimistic, it's that the Browns project to be trailing a lot this year, so they'll consistently be looking to throw the football.
That bodes well for Fannin's volume share, but he might not get a ton of opportunities near the end zone if the Browns struggle to sustain drives. For now, Fannin is a fringe top-12 fantasy tight end heading into Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was named in federal court on Tuesday as one of the people who were burned by Siddharth Jawahar, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison for fraud that prosecutors say sucked in more than $35 million from investors, according to TMZ. Jawahar pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud and was ordered to pay more than $31 million in restitution.
Kelce's exact losses were not disclosed, and prosecutors made it clear that he was a victim and was not accused of any wrongdoing. This unfortunate off-the-field news for the 36-year-old 11-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro should have no effect on his on-field production going forward in what could be the final year of his NFL career.
The former third-rounder in 2013 from Cincinnati got off to a solid start in the Week 1 season-opening win over the division-rival Denver Broncos on Monday night, catching three of five targets for 71 yards. Consider him a low-end TE1 going into KC's Week 2 tilt against the Indianapolis Colts.
