Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Kenyon Sadiq, New York Jets
New York Jets rookie first-round tight end Kenyon Sadiq missed valuable time during training camp this summer following a setback after hernia surgery, but he was active in the Week 1 season-opening win on Sunday over the Tennessee Titans and had an impact on offense. Sadiq caught all three of his targets in his NFL debut for 21 yards and also scored a three-yard rushing touchdown on his only carry of the game.
The Jets acknowledged that they would ease Sadiq into the fold early in his first NFL season, which was the case, as he played 42% of the offensive snaps, which was behind both Mason Taylor and Jeremy Ruckert. However, Taylor had just two catches for minus-two yards, and Ruckert caught his only target for a four-yard gain against Tennessee.
The 21-year-old from Oregon is a physical specimen with versatility and should only continue to be more involved in the Jets' downfield passing attack as the season goes, making him a priority waiver-wire pickup, even in single-TE leagues. Sadiq has much more short- and long-term fantasy upside than Taylor.
While his debut was impressive, managers should view Sadiq as a stash option in shallow formats who could eventually become a viable TE1 later in the season.
Colston Loveland, Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears rallied for a 59-37 win against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, but tight end Colston Loveland had no impact on his team's efforts to start the season with a W. The 2025 first-round draft pick was expected to have a strong outing in Sunday's season debut and shoulder a heavy workload as Chicago's TE1. However, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams targeted him just twice against Carolina, and Loveland failed to make either catch.
Meanwhile, veteran tight end Cole Kmet, who is listed behind Loveland on the depth chart, caught two of three targets for 35 yards and scored a touchdown. Receivers Rome Odunze, Kalif Raymond, and Luther Burden III all factored into Sunday's victory. Loveland had 58 catches for 713 yards and six touchdowns in 2025 and was a projected TE2 heading into the new season, but his slow start in 2026 proved to be a Week 1 fantasy bust.
Despite the slow start, managers should continue to view Cleveland as a top option at the position ahead of a Week 2 tilt against the Minnesota Vikings.
Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said that tight end Brock Bowers (knee) will not practice on Wednesday, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. The Athletic's Sam Warren is reporting that Kubiak hopes that Bowers will be able to return to practice on Thursday or Friday. Bowers did not play in the team's season-opening win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday after having the meniscus in his left knee trimmed.
His injury is not overly serious, which gives him a chance to make his 2026 season debut in Week 2 for a divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, but the star TE must first return to practice later this week. And if Bowers is cleared to play this Sunday against the Bolts, there is a possibility that he will be on a snap count.
In Bowers' absence in the 27-13 win over Miami, Michael Mayer caught six of seven targets for 32 yards. It was not much, but if Bowers misses a second straight game, Mayer will once again be in position to be a streamer at the position after Cardinals TE Trey McBride tormented L.A. in Week 1.
Chig Okonkwo, Washington Commanders
The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala did not see tight end Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) during the media-viewing portion of practice on Thursday. Okonkwo left the Week 1 season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles early on Sunday with a hamstring injury after catching two of his three targets for 16 yards.
He did not practice on Wednesday either, so Okonkwo is looking doubtful to play in Week 2 against the division-rival Dallas Cowboys unless he can get back on the practice field on Friday. The 27-year-old former fourth-rounder by the Tennessee Titans in 2022 from Maryland was billed as a potential sleeper tight end in his first year in Washington, but he is off to a bad start after getting injured in the season opener.
If Okonkwo is forced to sit out in Week 2, both John Bates and Ben Sinnott will likely split the pass-catching duties at TE for the Commanders. Bates and Sinnott would only be stream-worthy in much deeper fantasy leagues if Okonkwo is inactive against the Cowboys. Even if Oknkwo can suit up, he carries high risk as a fringe TE2.
