When is Jayden Daniels coming back? Will Jayden Daniels play again this season? Read about Jayden Daniels's return date and injury updates for 2025 as of Week 14.
Fantasy managers drafted second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels with confidence throughout the summer. Daniels took the NFL (and fantasy football) by storm as a rookie, flashing consistent accuracy as a passer and mobility with a subpar supporting cast.
Unfortunately, injuries and general offensive struggles have led to a down year for fantasy. Not only has Daniels struggled to live up to the hype he had in fantasy coming into the 2025 season, but he’s also struggled to even be in fantasy lineups due to a series of injuries. That said, his ability to impact the game (both real and fantasy) with his throwing and rushing ability is too good to ignore.
When is Jayden Daniels coming back? Can he be trusted in fantasy? Read below to find out.

Jayden Daniels Injury Update for Fantasy Football
2025 has been a year to forget for Jayden Daniels. Daniels battled through a knee sprain in Week 2 and a hamstring strain in Week 7, which cost him three total games. Just when it looked like the second-year quarterback would be healthy and ready to ascend, he dislocated his elbow in Week 9.
The elbow injury was gruesome on the field, but the Commanders decided not to put their young quarterback on the injured reserve. Not only was the injured elbow on his non-throwing arm, but more importantly, testing showed that Daniels avoided any major injuries or a need for surgery to repair the injury.
Washington decided to give Daniels time to rest (helped by their Week 12 bye) and hoped that he would be able to return to the field in 2025. Daniels logged limited practices ahead of Week 13’s game against the Denver Broncos but was ultimately ruled out.
However, the team medically cleared Daniels to play on Friday before Week 14’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Jayden Daniels Fantasy Football Outlook
The optimism for Jayden Daniels coming into 2025 was overwhelming. The Commanders’ signal caller was coming off a wildly successful rookie season as both a thrower (69% completion rate for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions) and rusher (148 carries for 891 yards and six touchdowns) while leading Washington to an NFC Championship game. From a fantasy perspective, Daniels finished as the QB5, averaging 21.5 points per game.
The Commanders spent most of the offseason working to upgrade their offensive environment. The team traded for left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. to bolster the offense. They also used a first-round pick on tackle Josh Conerly Jr.
However, things didn’t go to plan for the Commanders. Daniels has performed well when he’s on the field (18.9 PPG, QB10), but has been limited to just six games in 2025. He has just one top-10 finish this season, but has been a top-15 quarterback three times.
Washington’s schedule down the stretch is difficult, with matchups against the Commanders, Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, and Cowboys to close out the year. However, we also know that Daniels is capable of posting top-five weeks thanks to his passing ability and rushing upside.

Given the injury issues and the fact that Washington is playing for pride at this point in the season, Daniels should be considered a low-end QB1 with top-five upside for the remainder of the season. If he’s on your waiver wire, he has to be rostered, even if you choose to stream him in more difficult matchups.
