BALLER MOVE: Start in 14+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB4
ANALYSIS: This just seems to be the way things go for the Dallas Cowboys. It happened with Ezekiel Elliott, as everyone kept saying "wow, Tony Pollard might be better than him" and it's happening again with Pollard, with a growing contingent of voices advocating for Rico Dowdle.
We aren't at the point where Dowdle takes over this backfield, though. Back in Week 10 against the Giants, Dowdle had 12 carries for 79 yards and a score, but he had much tougher sledding against the Panthers last week with eight carries for 23 yards.
Still, it's notable that the past two weeks have been the two games where Dowdle has his most carries of the season. His role is clearly growing, which gives him some fantasy upside, but not a ton. If you're starting Dowdle this week in a season-long league, it's because you're dealing with injuries and have to take a risk on someone who has just one game all year with over 26 rushing yards. He's a touchdown-dependent RB4.
The biggest impact of Dowdle really comes to managers with Tony Pollard. With Dowdle taking on some extra carries, there are fewer opportunities for Pollard. That hasn't hurt Pollard much yet, but it does ultimately lower his floor.
