Zack Wheeler Should Be Available In Relief In Game 7
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson indicated that right-hander Zack Wheeler should be available in relief for Game 7 of the National League Championship Series on Tuesday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. "All hands on deck," Thomson said. Wheeler threw 99 pitches in a Game 5 victory over the D-backs on Saturday, so he'll probably only be available for an inning or two, at the most, if the Phillies call on Wheeler out of the bullpen on Tuesday night. The 33-year-old has been pretty dominant in this postseason as well, posting a 2.08 ERA (six earned runs in 26 innings), only two walks and 34 strikeouts in his four starts. Dating back to last year, Wheeler has a 2.48 ERA with nine walks and 67 K's in 61 2/3 career playoff innings.
