Winnipeg Jets center Jonathan Toews (undisclosed) is out day-to-day, head coach Scott Arniel told reporters on Thursday. The veteran forward "tweaked something" in Tuesday's preseason game against the Minnesota Wild and may not be in top condition for the start of the season. Winnipeg begins its campaign on Oct. 9 against the Dallas Stars, giving Toews a week to get healthy for opening night. Adam Lowry (hip) has already been ruled out for the first few weeks of action, so having Toews available would be very important for the Jets. Toews hasn't played in the NHL for two years, which makes him a risky fantasy option.--Taavi Pailk
