Zach Eflin Overshadowed In Phillies Rotation
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin has been overshadowed by Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler in the team's rotation, and he hasn't been that great with a 4.63 ERA and 7.3 K/9 in his five-year career. But the right-hander struck out 70 in 59 innings (28.6 percent strikeout rate) while posting a 6.1 percent walk rate in 2020. His 22.4 percent K-BB ranked in the top 15 last year, in line with the likes of Max Scherzer, Luis Castillo and Blake Snell. The 6-foot-6 righty is entering his age-27 season, too, so Eflin could take the next step. He also relied more on his sinker in 2020, helping him post an xERA of 3.31 and a career-best 3.97 ERA. Eflin is a sleeper target if he continues to generate weak contact and swings and misses like he did last year.
