Cuban right-hander Yariel Rodriguez impressed on Tuesday in his first tryout with more than 15 major-league teams watching in the Dominican Republic. The 26-year-old showed nice velocity, pitch movement and spin rate after six months without playing in a game. He features a fastball, slider, curveball, splitter and change up in his repertoire, with his fastball averaging 96.2 mph. Rodriguez is biding his time and working out after being released by the Chunichi Dragons of the Japanese League. He will be seeking to earn a big-league deal in the United States this offseason. Rodriguez was used in relief by the Dragons, but he could have a shot to be a starter in the majors, depending on where he lands.--Keith HernandezRead More News
