Tim Elko Goes Deep on Wednesday
Tim Elko went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 6-0 win against Triple-A Syracuse. Elko was activated from the IL and optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, and didn't wait long to get back to doing damage at the plate. He's now up to 19 homers and a .315/.385/.610 slash line in 270 plate appearances at the level. The quality of contact is excellent for Elko, with a 52.6 percent hard-hit rate and 12.8 percent barrel rate. The slugging first baseman came up to the majors for a brief period, but his swing and miss issues were on display with a 41.8 percent strikeout rate. The 26-year-old did slug four homers in that time and continued to hit the ball hard when he did make contact. There's a good possibility Elko returns to the majors before the season ends, and he's a decent option for fantasy managers looking for cheap power in deep formats and AL-only leagues.
