Steelers To Spread The Ball Around In 2019
6 years agoWith Antonio Brown now in Oakland, the Pittsburgh Steelers offense will look a lot different in 2019. JuJu Smith-Schuster will be the team's No. 1 wideout and will be targeted often by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but behind him there are inexperienced yet intriguing options. The team thinks they have at least nine viable pass-catching options that Big Ben can use. Roethlisberger completed passes to nine receivers without Brown for two games in 2017. Donte Moncrief will be a big part of it, as will tight end Vance McDonald, who is expected to have an expanded role after catching 50 passes in 2018. Second-year wideout James Washington has plenty of upside after an up-and-down rookie year. Ryan Switzer brings versatility and quickness and Eli Rogers can beat man coverage. Pittsburgh is hoping third-round rookie Diontae Johnson can crack the lineup sooner than later. Moncrief will be an intriguing late-round fantasy option with 21 career touchdowns. He should be a big weapon for Roethlisberger in the red zone.
