Raiders To Release Tyrell Williams
4 years agoThe Las Vegas Raiders plan to release wide receiver Tyrell Williams at the start of the new league year next month, according to a source. Williams missed all of the 2020 season with a shoulder injury that required surgery. But he's turning just 29 years old on Friday and should be fully healthy in two to three weeks. He caught 42 passes for 651 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games for Oakland back in 2019. Williams currently accounts for the fifth-highest salary cap number on the team's roster for 2021 at $11.6 million, and Las Vegas can save around $1 million by releasing him. He could face a cold market with the salary cap lowered around the league, but Williams could be a WR4/5 if he's healthy in 2021 and lands in the right situation.
