Jarlin Susana Placed On Minor League Injured List With UCL Sprain
Jarlin Susana (elbow) has been placed on the seven-day minor-league injured list with a Grade 1 UCL sprain. The team believes he's avoided a major injury that would require Tommy John surgery, but he'll be shut down from throwing and be re-evaluated in two weeks. The Nats' second-ranked prospect has a 4.15 ERA for Double-A Harrisburg, but a 16.4 percent walk rate takes some of the shine off of the righty's 31.1 percent strikeout rate, leading to an ugly 1.69 WHIP. Still, if the 6-foot-6 hurler can rein in some of the walks, he possesses a triple-digit fastball and a devastating slider that makes him an intriguing future fantasy asset. Assuming he won't require surgery, the 21-year-old is expected to make his big-league debut in 2026. Dynasty managers will want to keep an eye on him as he could be an impactful starter, but if the command isn't improved, he could be converted to a closer.Source: Mark Zuckerman - MASN Sports
Washington Nationals pitching prospect Kevin McGonigle Begins Rehab Assignment At Single-A
Kevin McGonigle (ankle) began a rehab assignment on May 10 at Single-A Lakeland, going 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, and a run scored in his first game back. The Tigers' second-ranked prospect (MLB No. 26) doubled twice and collected four RBI for High-A West Michigan on Opening Day, but suffered an ankle sprain that has caused him to miss over a month of the season. The left-handed hitter was fantastic last season at Single-A, slashing .326/.407/.470, with four home runs, 20 steals, and he walked more than he struck out in 60 games before earning a promotion to High-A. The former 37th-overall draft pick played 14 games at High-A before a hand injury ended his season prematurely. Hopefully the injuries aren't going to be a recurring issue, and look for the 20-year-old to rejoin High-A after his rehab is complete. He's still a couple of years away from the majors, but he is a talent that dynasty managers should keep tabs on.Source: MLB.com
Detroit Tigers shortstop prospect DJ LeMahieu Coming Off Injured List On Monday
The New York Yankees are activating corner infielder DJ LeMahieu (calf) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's series opener against the Seattle Mariners, according to Newsday's Erik Boland. It's unclear if LeMahieu will beread more...
Colton Gordon A Candidate To Start On Wednesday
Colton Gordon is a candidate to be recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land to start on Wednesday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. Gordon could temporarily join the team's starting rotation in the big leagues as they move to a six-man rotation. The 26-year-old southpaw is regarded as Houston's No. 14 prospect by MLB Pipeline and could be a short-term stop-gap to help fill in for the injured Hayden Wesneski (elbow). The former eight-round pick in 2021 out of Central Florida has been sharp in eight starts at Triple-A, going 4-0 with a 2.55 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 43:8 K:BB in 42 1/3 innings. Gordon won't be a must-add in single-year fantasy leagues because he may only make a few starts. He leans on a low-velocity heater and sweeping slider to keep hitters off balance.Source: MLB.com - Brian McTaggart
Houston Astros general manager Dana Brown said on Sports Talk 790 that left-handed pitching prospect Landon Knack To Make Another Start On Tuesday
Landon Knack will make another start for the Blue on Tuesday against the visiting Athletics. Knack will stick around in L.A.'s sixth-man starting rotation for the time being after he picked up his second win of the season against the Miami Marlins on May 7 by tossing five shutout innings with one walk and a season-high five strikeouts. If the 27-year-old pitches well again against the A's at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, he could stay in the Dodgers' rotation until one of Blake Snell (shoulder) or Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) are able to return from the injured list. The former second-rounder in 2020 out of East Tennessee State is currently 2-0 on the season with a 4.61 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with 12 strikeouts and seven walks in 13 2/3 innings over his four outings (three starts). You could certainly find worse streaming options than Knack in fantasy.Source: MLB.com
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Anthony Santander Should Be Good To Return On Tuesday
Anthony Santander (shoulder) missed the three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners over the weekend after his shoulder "felt cranky" after falling into the right-field seats against the Los Angeles Angels late last week. However, manager John Schneider said that Santander should be good for Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. The 30-year-old was swinging the bat a bit better prior to his minor shoulder injury last Thursday, but fantasy managers are still waiting for more. The Venezuelan switch-hitting outfielder has so far been a disappointment in his first year in Toronto, slashing .196/.275/.336 with a .611 OPS, five home runs, 16 RBI and 12 runs scored in his 143 at-bats. Check back on Tuesday before throwing Santander back into your starting fantasy lineups.Source: The Athletic - Mitch Bannon
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Yariel Rodriguez Excelling In High-Leverage Spots
Yariel Rodriguez has a .091 average against and a 33.3% strikeout rate. In low-leverage spots, Rodriguez has a .286 average against and a 20.5% strikeout rate. His soft-contact rate jumps 10.1% from low- to high-leverage spots, points out The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. The 28-year-old has averaged 96 mph with his fastball this year, but in the seventh and eighth innings in Thursday's win over the Los Angeles Angels, he touched 97.7 mph and showed more spin on all of his pitches. The Blue Jays could start leaning more on Rodriguez in late-inning, high-leverage situations, especially since they've been relying heavily on Jeff Hoffman, Yimi Garcia and Brendon Little. Rodriguez is currently sporting a 4.26 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 21 strikeouts and eight walks in 19 innings over 16 outings (one start) in his second big-league season.Source: The Athletic - Mitch Bannon
In high-leverage relief spots this year, Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Addison Barger Showing Improvement At The Plate
The Athletic's Mitch Bannon writes that Toronto Blue Jays infielder Addison Barger currently has an average exit velocity of 96.6 mph and the third-best barrel rate on the team. Barger has also become a more matureread more...
George Springer Swinging The Bat Well
George Springer had a .206 average and .578 OPS on May 11 of last year, but things have been different so far in 2025. Springer hit three home runs in the team's three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners over the weekend and raised his OPS back over .900. The 35-year-old veteran is swinging at pitches in the zone 8.2% less, chasing 6.4% less and seeing more pitches per plate appearance than all but 34 MLB hitters, per The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. Springer has the highest walk rate of his career and is batting .387 against fastballs with 71% of his extra-base hits coming against the pitch. Three of Springer's five homers on the year have come in nine games in May, and he's hitting .273 (9-for-33) in the month so far. Along with a move down in the batting order, whatever mechanical adjustments he's made in 2025 have been paying off.Source: The Athletic - Mitch Bannon
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jake Burger Could Rejoin Rangers On Monday
Jake Burger could be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock before Monday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies, according to the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant. Burger has spent 10 days in the minors following his early-season demotion, so he's now eligible to return to the big-league roster if Texas wants him back. The 29-year-old right-handed slugger has gone 9-for-23 with two homers, a double, six RBI and five runs scored in his six games played for Round Rock, and he should be back with the Rangers this week as their regular first baseman despite hitting only .190/.232/.330 with a .562 OPS, three home runs, 12 RBI, 13 runs and 32 strikeouts in his first 30 games played for the team this year. Anyone looking for a corner-infield power in deeper fantasy leagues should consider scooping Burger up off the waiver wire if he's available.Source: Dallas Morning News - Evan Grant
Texas Rangers corner infielder Luis Severino Torched For Eight Runs By Yankees

Luis L. Ortiz Pitches Well But Dealt Loss
Luis L. Ortiz allowed four hits and one earned run over six innings in his team's 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Dominican Republic native walked two and struck out nine in the quality start, falling to 2-4 on the season. Ortiz put together a strong performance on Sunday, with a second-inning Kyle Schwarber home run accounting for the only blemish against him. Although he was otherwise excellent, Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler outdueled him with seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball, while his offense failed behind him. The 26-year-old has been up-and-down in eight starts thus far, registering four outings with at least eight punchouts but two with four or more runs. He'll carry an inflated 4.78 ERA and 1.36 WHIP (43 1/3 innings) into his next start on the road against the Cincinnati Reds.Source: ESPN
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Lucas Giolito Bounces Back With Strong Effort Against Royals
Lucas Giolito pitched 6 2/3 strong innings in his team's 3-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. The 30-year-old veteran fired in 59 of 88 pitches for strikes, allowing two hits, no earned runs, one walk, and striking out five. Giolito was dominant for most of Sunday's outing, but a single, a walk, and a throwing error on a bunt (his own) in the bottom of the third were enough for the Royals to push a run across. Still, the right-hander was excellent, doing a good job of limiting hard contact against him. It was a nice bounce-back for him after allowing six earned runs and ten hits to the Rangers his last time out. He'll attempt to continue his solid pitching when he squares off against the Atlanta Braves on the road next week.Source: ESPN
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Heliot Ramos Hits Home Run In Back-To-Back Days
Heliot Ramos went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBI in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins. He also singled, hit a sac fly, walked, and was caught stealing. The 25-year-old has now homered twice in as many days and been very productive since the end of April. Across his last 13 outings, Ramos is batting a fantastic .418 (18-for-43) with four home runs, three doubles, nine RBI, and 11 runs scored. Incredibly, he's a perfect six-for-six in his last six at-bats dating back to Friday. The former first-round pick holds a 1.272 OPS in May. It's difficult to determine what, if anything, has changed, other than his increased contact while swinging in 2025 (84.5% zone contact). Still, fantasy managers should continue to fire him up while he's hot. Five of Ramos' last ten hits have gone for extra bases.Source: ESPN
San Francisco Giants outfielder Ben Rice Hits A Grand Slam On Sunday
Ben Rice came up in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and two outs and smacked his ninth home run of the 2025 campaign. The Yankees' offense enjoyed playing at Sutter Health Park this past series, scoring 10 or more runs in all three games. Rice continues his breakout campaign in 2025, now slashing .260/.368/.569 with nine home runs, 25 runs scored, and 20 RBI to go along with two stolen bases. Although he has cooled off a bit from his red-hot start, Rice remains batting at the top of one of the most potent lineups in the MLB and remains a strong start in all formats. Next for Rice and the Yankees is a three-game series in Seattle to take on the Mariners starting Monday.Source: ESPN
