Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron had an underwhelming day at Kansas Speedway for the AdventHealth 400, defined by a finish of 24th. Byron started this week's race from the seventh and had one of the strongest cars in the early portion of the first stage. Byron progressed up to second after the first set of green flag pit stops, but on lap 66, he had a flat right rear tire and spun off turn four. Although he made it to pit road safely, there was no caution, meaning that Byron lost plenty of time to the field as his team addressed the flat tire. He fell two laps off the lead lap and ended the first stage in 26th. The second stage showed Byron continuing to struggle as he was unable to get back to the lead lap and finished 30th at the end of the stage. Despite taking chances to stay on track and hoping for a caution while other racers pitted during the final stage, Byron still could not fully recover from his earlier flat tire mishap. The No. 24 Chevrolet driver finished 24th and lost the regular season points lead to race winner Kyle Larson. --Sean Engel - RotoBaller
