Los Angeles Angels first baseman
Nolan Schanuel (wrist) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday, and he is back in the starting lineup, playing first base and batting leadoff against Colorado Rockies right-hander
Bradley Blalock at Coors Field. It will be Schanuel's first action in the big leagues in over three weeks due to a left-wrist bruise. During his minor-league rehab assignment, the left-handed hitter went 4-for-8 with a double and three runs scored. The 23-year-old former first-rounder will look to finish off his second full season in the big leagues strong. Schanuel typically isn't a great source of counting stats at the first base position, but he'll have more DFS sleeper appeal this weekend at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He is returning to a very modest .266/.355/.383 slash line, .738 OPS, 10 home runs, 49 RBI, 61 runs, and five steals on the year in 125 games.

The Detroit Tigers called up infielder
Jace Jung from Triple-A Toledo on Friday after placing infielder
Colt Keith (rib cage) on the 10-day injured list with right rib-cage inflammation. Jung will rejoin the big-league roster to close out the regular season as infield depth with Keith on the shelf. While the 24-year-old could see some action at the hot corner to close out the month,
Zach McKinstry and
Andy Ibanez will be Detroit's top options to replace Keith until the postseason. In just 18 games for the Tigers this year, Jung went 5-for-45 (.111) with no homers, three RBI, seven walks, and 15 strikeouts in 53 trips to the plate. He was better in his rookie season last year, slashing .241/.362/.304 with no homers, three RBI, and a 29:15 K:BB in 34 games. The former first-rounder hit .252/.370/.447 with 17 homers and 74 RBI in 110 games at Toledo this year.

The Detroit Tigers announced on Friday that they placed infielder
Colt Keith (rib cage) on the 10-day injured list with right rib-cage inflammation and recalled infielder
Jace Jung from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. The Tigers initially announced that Keith left Thursday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with a back injury. The 24-year-old does not have any structural damage, but he's going to miss the rest of the regular season. They will be hoping that he can rejoin the team for the playoffs, and it will help if Detroit is able to secure a first-round bye. Keith has been a lineup regular for the first-place Tigers this year and will end his 2025 season by hitting .256 (106-for-414) with 13 home runs, 45 RBI, and 65 runs in 137 games.
Zach McKinstry will be the team's primary option at third with Keith out.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced on Friday that they reinstated infielder
Alec Bohm (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder
Rafael Lantigua to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move before their contest in Arizona against the Diamondbacks and right-hander
Ryne Nelson. The Phillies have not released their starting lineup for Friday's series opener in the desert, but Bohm should be in it and starting at third base. The 29-year-old's return will push
Otto Kemp back to a utility role for the first-place Phils. Bohm missed a minimum of 10 days on the IL with a cyst in his left (non-throwing) shoulder and did not require a minor-league rehab assignment before returning. The former first-rounder has hit a solid .272 (116-for-427) this year, but his power has been down (only nine homers) in 111 games.

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman
Junior Caminero (back) remains absent from the starting nine for Friday's game against the division-rival Boston Red Sox.
Tristan Gray will start at the hot corner and will hit sixth against Red Sox left-hander
Garrett Crochet. Caminero will miss a second straight game after he was pulled from Wednesday's game with mid-back tightness. The 22-year-old was able to take swings in the batting cages on Friday, so he could return to action as early as Saturday. Fantasy managers will want to check back then to see if he's active. The 22-year-old Dominican has had a true breakout season in 2025 in his first full year in the majors, slashing .259/.302/.537 with an .839 OPS, 44 home runs, 108 RBI, 89 runs scored, and seven steals in 146 games. Gray has played in only 24 games with Tampa this year and has three homers and eight RBI. Avoid him as a DFS sleeper against Crochet.

Boston Red Sox outfielder
Roman Anthony (oblique) is walking on a treadmill and is riding an exercise bike, but he has yet to resume baseball activities while recovering from an oblique strain, according to Conor Ryan of Boston.com. The 21-year-old landed on the injured list on Sept. 3, and it remains to be seen if he'll be able to rejoin the team before the end of the regular season in September. The BoSox could really use his help, as they've really struggled as a team since he went down, but they are not going to rush one of their best young players back too soon. The main goal for Boston will be to have Anthony ready to go if they can clinch a wild-card spot in the American League. The former second-round pick in 2022 looked great in his first 71 big-league games before getting hurt, going 75-for-257 (.292) with eight homers, 32 RBI, 48 runs, and four stolen bases.

The Houston Astros placed outfielder/designated hitter
Yordan Alvarez (ankle) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a left-ankle sprain, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic. The move is retroactive to Sept. 16. The good news is that the Astros are getting slugging third baseman
Isaac Paredes (hamstring) back from the IL. Alvarez suffered a significant ankle sprain this week when he slipped on home plate. The three-time All-Star will now miss the rest of the regular season and probably will not be ready for the start of the playoffs (if Houston qualifies) in early October. Alvarez is getting better, but he's been a slow healer and also missed a giant chunk of the 2025 season with a hand ailment. Despite his injuries, he's hit .273 (45-for-165) with six homers, 27 RBI, and 17 runs in only 48 games this season. The Astros need Alvarez's bat in their lineup if they want to make a deep postseason run.

Detroit Tigers right-handed reliever
Kyle Finnegan (groin) is with the team on Friday and is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list before the series opener against the Atlanta Braves, according to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. Finnegan is expecting to be active. "Ready to go," he said. The 34-year-old veteran will be returning to Detroit's bullpen after going on the IL at the beginning of the month with a strained right adductor. Don't be surprised if the Tigers ease him back into the late-inning mix in the bullpen, but Finnegan should at least be in play to share closing duties with
Will Vest by the time the start of the playoffs roll around in October. Since coming over to Detroit at the deadline in a trade with the Washington Nationals, he has not allowed a run in 14 1/3 innings pitched with four saves, 19 strikeouts, and only three walks. Finnegan had 20 saves with the Nats in the first half of the season and has 112 total in his six big-league seasons.

The Minnesota Twins announced on Friday that they placed outfielder
Matt Wallner (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a right-oblique strain and recalled outfielder
DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. With the Twins out of postseason contention, that will be it for Wallner for the rest of the 2025 season. The 27-year-old former first-rounder played in a career-high 104 games this year in his fourth year in the big leagues and had a disappointing .202 average (68-for-336) in 392 trips to the plate. However, the left-handed hitter did club 22 home runs and added 40 RBI, 47 runs scored, and four stolen bases. With Wallner out for the last week-plus of the season,

Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) is returning to the starting nine for Friday's series opener against the division-rival Chicago Cubs and left-hander
Shota Imanaga, playing third base and batting seventh in the order. A back injury kept Hayes out of action for the last two games, but he'll be available on Friday as the Reds continue their push for the final wild-card spot in the National League. Fantasy managers probably should keep the 28-year-old on their benches since he's gone hitless in his last five games. He's also hitless in two career at-bats against Imanaga. Hayes has one of the best gloves in the league at third base, but he's pretty mediocre offensively. He's been better at the plate since being acquired at the deadline in a trade from the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he's still hitting only .254 (34-for-134) with three homers and 12 RBI in 43 games with Cincy.

The Chicago White Sox announced on Friday that they placed left-hander
Martin Perez (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list with a left-shoulder strain and recalled left-hander
Cam Booser from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. With less than two weeks in the 2025 season, the move effectively ends Perez's season. The 34-year-old veteran also dealt with left-elbow issues this year, limiting him to only 56 innings at the big-league level for Chicago. The 14-year veteran was effective when he was available, though, sporting a 3.54 ERA (4.25 FIP) and 1.11 WHIP with 44 strikeouts and 22 walks in 11 appearances (10 starts). Although Perez wasn't terrible at all in his limited action in 2025, the veteran soft-tossing southpaw isn't going to have a robust free-agent market this winter and will likely have to settle for a minor-league deal if he wants to continue pitching in 2026.

Baltimore Orioles second baseman
Jackson Holliday (undisclosed) is starting at second base and will bat leadoff for Friday's contest at Camden Yards against the division-rival New York Yankees and right-hander
Will Warren. Holliday got the day off on Thursday in the series opener because he's been nicked up of late, but he'll be back in there on Friday. The 21-year-old former first overall pick hasn't looked nicked up at the plate lately, as he's hit .324 (22-for-68) with two home runs and five steals in his last 18 games. Although it's a small sample size against Warren, Holliday has seen the ball well off him, batting .400 with an .800 OPS in five at-bats. In his first full season in the major leagues in 2025 for the O's as their starting second baseman, Holliday enters Friday's action slashing .250/.321/.390 with 17 long balls, 55 RBI, 68 runs scored, and 17 steals in 142 games. Get him back into your lineups.

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed rookie
Roki Sasaki (calf, shoulder) made a relief appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday night and retired three of the four batters he faced with two strikeouts and a walk, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. His fastball was sitting at 99 mph, and he touched 100.1 mph while getting a whiff or a foul tip on seven of nine swings. Manager Dave Roberts said that Sasaki will make another relief appearance with OKC on Sunday, and if that goes well, he could be back with the big-league club next week for the final stretch of the regular season. Sasaki, who has only made eight starts for L.A. in his first MLB season due to shoulder and calf injuries, is still in contention for a postseason roster spot as a reliever. The 23-year-old Japanese hurler is going to need to show better command to earn a playoff roster spot, though. In his 34 1/3 innings earlier in 2025, he had a 4.72 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 24:22 K:BB.

Houston Astros infielder
Isaac Paredes (hamstring) is expected to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list before the series opener on Friday against the division-rival Seattle Mariners, a source told Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. It's perfect timing for the Astros to get Paredes back in a huge series that could ultimately decide the winner of the American League West this year. Paredes was hitting .259/.359/.470 with a team-high 19 home runs and 50 RBI in 94 games before suffering a strained hamstring on July 19 in Seattle. The Astros have not released their starting lineup for Friday's game against Mariners right-hander
Bryan Woo, but Paredes should be back at third base for Houston while batting in the middle of their order. With Paredes back, Houston now will have the luxury of mixing and matching with Paredes and
Carlos Correa between third and designated hitter.
