Matt Wallner Goes on Injured List With Oblique Strain
Matt Wallner (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a right-oblique strain and recalled outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. With the Twins out of postseason contention, that will be it for Wallner for the rest of the 2025 season. The 27-year-old former first-rounder played in a career-high 104 games this year in his fourth year in the big leagues and had a disappointing .202 average (68-for-336) in 392 trips to the plate. However, the left-handed hitter did club 22 home runs and added 40 RBI, 47 runs scored, and four stolen bases. With Wallner out for the last week-plus of the season, James Outman figures to see more playing time in Minnesota's outfield. Outman is in right field and is batting ninth on Friday against the Cleveland Guardians and left-hander Parker Messick.
