Jarren Duran Reportedly Staying Put at Trade Deadline
Jarren Duran before the July 31 deadline, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. There has been speculation about Duran changing teams by the deadline, though a deal seems more likely to come together during the offseason (if at all). While the 28-year-old hasn't matched his production from 2024, he has been an integral part of a Boston team that's in the thick of the AL playoff race. Duran went 3-for-4 with two triples, a double, two RBI, and a run scored in a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. He's now 19-for-65 (.292) with three homers, 16 RBI, and 12 runs in 19 games this month. Overall, Duran has slashed .259/.326/.442 with nine HRs, 55 RBI, 58 runs, and 16 steals in 467 trips to the plate.Source: Bob Nightengale
The Boston Red Sox aren't planning to trade outfielder White Sox Want Mark Vientos for Luis Robert Jr.
Luis Robert Jr. to the New York Mets, they're going to want third baseman/designated hitter Mark Vientos in return, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. The Mets are known to have interest in Robert, who has struggled this year but is currently enjoying his best month of the season as the White Sox prepare to deal him. Robert has gone 13-for-37 with two homers, nine RBI, 10 runs scored, and four stolen bases in July. Acquiring the former All-Star would take care of the Mets' need for a righty-hitting outfielder. However, it's unclear whether they're willing to give up the 25-year-old Vientos to make it happen. Vientos burst on the scene with 27 home runs last season, but he has fallen short of expectations in 2025. Over 279 plate appearances, Vientos has hit .226/.280/.358 with six homers, 27 RBI, and 22 runs scored.Source: Bob Nightengale
If the Chicago White Sox are going to trade outfielder Cubs Willing to Trade Owen Cassie for Starting Pitcher
Owen Caissie in a trade for a starting pitcher, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. The team's top target appears to be Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller, who has been connected to several clubs leading up to the July 31 trade deadline. Caissie, MLB Pipeline's 37th-ranked prospect, would be a steep price to pay. The 23-year-old has batted a terrific .278/.377/.563 with 20 home runs in 358 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season, though he has posted a high 29.3% strikeout rate. In Keller, the Cubs would be getting a reasonably priced mid-rotation starter who has pitched to a 3.53 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP, 97 strikeouts, and 30 walks across 125 innings in 2025. The 29-year-old is earning $15 million this season and is due a combined $54.5 million from 2026-28.Source: Bob Nightengale
The Chicago Cubs are willing to deal outfield prospect Hyeseong Kim Out Sunday with Shoulder Injury
Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) has been playing through left-shoulder troubles over the past five to six days, manager Dave Roberts revealed. The Dodgers will give Kim off on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox as a result. Thanks in part to his shoulder, Kim has only managed to go 3-for-16 with no extra-base hits, eight strikeouts, and no walks in five games this week. Despite that, the 26-year-old rookie is still hitting an above-average .311/.345/.415 with two homers, 15 RBI, 17 runs scored, and a dozen stolen bases over 142 plate appearances.Source: Fabian Ardaya - The Athletic
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Jacob Young Day-to-Day with Finger Injury
Jacob Young (finger) left the team's 9-3 win over the Minnesota Twins early on Saturday with a bruised right index finger. Young departed after hurting his finger on a third-inning bunt attempt, but X-rays came back negative. The 26-year-old is considered day-to-day, so he may sit out Sunday's game. Alex Call replaced him in center field on Saturday. Young has gone homer-less over 250 plate appearances this year and batted just .245/.314/.291 with 18 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases. He's well behind last year's 33-steal pace.Source: Mark Zuckerman - MASNsports.com
Washington Nationals outfielder Luis Garcia Pitches Well During Rehab Start
Luis Garcia (elbow) looked sharp on the mound during Saturday's rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi. Garcia threw 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, one walk, and striking out three batters. The right-hander threw 34 strikes across this 46-pitch outing. The fact he only threw two innings means Garcia will likely need to ramp up more before returning to the Astros rotation. The Astros haven't given much of a timetable on his return. Possibly, Garcia is able to return to the rotation at some point in August.Source: Astros Future
Houston Astros starting pitcher Yoan Moncada Avoids Serious Injury
Yoan Moncada (hand) was removed from Saturday's game after being hit by a pitch in the right hand. Moncada took a pitch from George Kirby off his hand in the sixth inning. This resulted in his immediate exit from the contest and subsequently went for imaging. The X-rays came back negative, so Moncada appears to have avoided any serious injuries. For now, fantasy managers should consider Moncada as day-to-day. There is a good chance that he'll sit out of Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners.Source: Rhett Bollinger
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Byron Buxton to Undergo Imaging
Byron Buxton (side) was forced to make an early exit from Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. Buxton is dealing with left side soreness and will undergo imaging on Sunday. The Twins are remaining optimistic, but Buxton could be headed to a stint on the injured list. The expectation is that Buxton will sit out Sunday's game while the team does further testing. For now, fantasy managers should consider Buxton as day-to-day.Source: Aaron Gleeman
Minnesota Twins outfielder Blake Snell Records Seven Strikeouts in Rehab Start
Blake Snell (shoulder) took the mound for a minor league rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday. Snell tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits, four walks, and striking out seven batters. It was a 76 pitch outing for Snell in which only 40 of those pitches were thrown for strikes. Barring any setbacks, Snell should be ready to rejoin the Dodgers rotation by the beginning of August. He'll probably require at least one more rehab start before rejoining the Dodgers rotation.Source: milb.com
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Kris Bubic Dealing with Shoulder Soreness
Kris Bubic (shoulder) could be headed to the injured list after suffering an injury during Saturday's outing. Bubic gave up four runs (three earned) while walking four batters over 2 ⅔ innings of work on Saturday. Afterwards, Bubic mentioned that he's dealing with some shoulder stiffness. This is reportedly something that has bothered Bubic for quite some time. It's worth noting that Bubic has thrown well over 100 innings this season after tossing a total of 46.1 innings during each of the previous two seasons combined. This could be a shoulder fatigue issue that requires Bubic to get some rest. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on his status.Source: Anne Rogers
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kyle Henley Sets Daytona Record With 40th Stolen Base
Kyle Henley swiped three bags on Saturday, pushing his season total to 40 and setting a new single-season record for the Single-A Daytona Tortugas. Henley's blazing speed is undeniable, he's stolen 76 bases in just 125 games over the past two seasons, but he still flies under the radar in most prospect circles. The biggest hurdle? He can't steal first base. Henley's 34.5% strikeout rate highlights the need for significant improvement in his plate approach. If he can cut down the swing-and-miss, his speed could make him an intriguing weapon in deeper dynasty formats.Source: Minor League Baseball
Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Kevin McGonigle Launches First Double-A Homer on Saturday
Kevin McGonigle hit his first Double-A home run on Saturday in a 9-6 loss to the Somerset Patriots. The 20-year-old shortstop's long ball was his first since June 27 and highlighted a strong start to his Double-A stint. Through 10 games at the level, McGonigle has shown mature plate discipline, walking seven times and striking out just seven. Known for his advanced hit tool and on-base skills, McGonigle continues to flash top-of-the-order potential. If he maintains his current pace, he could fast-track his way to the upper levels of Detroit's farm system.Source: Minor League Baseball
Detroit Tigers top prospect Trey Yesavage Perfect Through Four in Dominant Double-A Start
Trey Yesavage was perfect through four innings on Saturday against the Hartford Yard Goats, striking out five in one of his best outings since arriving at Double-A. The 22-year-old right-hander entered the game with a 6.35 ERA at the level but showed improved command and confidence in just his sixth Double-A start. With Saturday's performance, Yesavage has now struck out 28 batters in 21 innings. As the Blue Jays' top pitching prospect, he appears to be settling in and could be primed for a strong second half to solidify his future rotation outlook.Source: Minor League Baseball
Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Thomas White Strikes Out 14 in Dominant Double-A Outing
Thomas White delivered a jaw-dropping performance on Saturday, striking out 14 batters over five innings in his Double-A start. The 19-year-old southpaw allowed just two doubles while continuing to showcase his electric fastball-slider combo. Across two levels this season, White has racked up 86 strikeouts in just 55 innings, cementing his status as one of the fastest-rising arms in the minors. With swing-and-miss stuff and improving command, White has the tools to front a rotation in the future, and could force his way onto the Marlins' roster by 2026.Source: MLB Pipeline
Miami Marlins top prospect Robby Snelling Shines Again at Triple-A
Robby Snelling continued his strong start at Triple-A on Saturday, striking out 11 and generating 24 whiffs over six innings in a 3-0 loss to Durham. The 21-year-old left-hander allowed just two runs, both solo homers, while flashing a fastball that sat comfortably between 95 and 97 mph. Since his promotion to Jacksonville, Snelling has posted a 2.30 ERA with 16 strikeouts across 15 2/3 innings. With advanced poise, swing-and-miss stuff, and a fastball that plays at the top of the zone, Snelling is making a case for a late-season MLB debut.Source: Josh Norris
