Kevin McGonigle Launches First Double-A Homer on Saturday
Kevin McGonigle hit his first Double-A home run on Saturday in a 9-6 loss to the Somerset Patriots. The 20-year-old shortstop's long ball was his first since June 27 and highlighted a strong start to his Double-A stint. Through 10 games at the level, McGonigle has shown mature plate discipline, walking seven times and striking out just seven. Known for his advanced hit tool and on-base skills, McGonigle continues to flash top-of-the-order potential. If he maintains his current pace, he could fast-track his way to the upper levels of Detroit's farm system.
