The Washington Nationals are making reliever

Mike Soroka, and first basemen
Nathaniel Lowe and
Josh Bell available at the trade deadline, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Washington is 21 games under .500 entering play on Monday, so they will clearly be in sell-mode over the next couple of weeks. However, it appears from Nightengale's report that they are looking to move their veterans and impending free agents rather than pieces of their young core. Finnegan's trade deadline status could be the most relevant of the players listed above from a fantasy perspective. The 33-year-old has logged 19 saves so far in 2025, but he's also recorded an unimpressive 4.25 ERA and 10.7% K-BB%. It's possible, if not likely, that an acquiring team would view Finnegan as bullpen depth rather than a closer.

Detroit Tigers infielder/outfielder
Javier Baez (shoulder) exited Sunday's 2-1 win over the Texas Rangers in the sixth inning with left-shoulder soreness, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. After the game, he said that "he didn't want to keep playing through the soreness," and regarding an IL stint, he said, "I don't think so." It's positive news for Baez's fantasy managers and the Tigers, as it appears he has been playing through some shoulder soreness for a handful of weeks now.
Trey Sweeney entered the game for Baez after the injury and would likely continue to do so should Baez miss any time. The former first-round pick by the Chicago Cubs is slashing .274/.308/.438 with 10 home runs, 42 runs scored, 39 RBI, and three stolen bases in 289 plate appearances. More impressively, Baez has lowered his strikeout rate to 22.5 percent, which is significantly below his career average of 27.3 percent.

Los Angeles Angels shortstop prospect
Denzer Guzman went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run during the first game of a doubleheader against Double-A Columbus on Sunday afternoon. In the second half of the two-game slate, Guzman went 0-for-2 with a run and a walk. Over his last nine games, Guzman has been very productive in the batter's box, posting a .364/.450/.697 slash line with five doubles, two home runs, and a 6:5 K:BB. Through 83 total games with Double-A Rocket City this season, the No. 9-ranked prospect in Los Angeles according to MLB.com has held a .238/.333/.427 slash line with 22 doubles, 11 home runs, and seven stolen bases. Given his surge at the plate, Guzman could be in the mix to debut at Triple-A in the second half.

Seattle Mariners infield prospect
Colt Emerson went 2-for-3 with a home run and a stolen base during their contest against High-A Hillsboro on Sunday afternoon. In this contest, Emerson also drew a walk and tallied three RBI. This outing snapped a brief five-game skid for the former 22nd overall pick as he held a modest .630 OPS over this stretch. However, before the slump, Emerson carried a strong .370/.426/.648 slash line with three long balls over his last 14 games. Through 78 total games with High-A Everett this season, the 20-year-old has carried a .268/.373/.433 slash line with 12 doubles, nine home runs, and six stolen bases. Given his steady progression this season, Emerson could make his Double-A debut in the coming weeks.

Cincinnati Reds shortstop prospect
Edwin Arroyo has enjoyed a dominant July at Double-A Chattanooga. Since July 4 (last 12 games), the infielder has posted an impressive .333/.393/.510 slash line with six doubles and a home run. During this stretch, Arroyo has scored eight runs, tallied five RBI, and swiped five bags. Last summer, Arroyo was unable to play after suffering a torn labrum. Through 74 total games with Double-A this season, Arroyo has looked quite comfortable following the injury, posting a strong .277/.337/.358 line with 15 doubles, two home runs, and seven stolen bases. Seeing Arroyo begin to swipe more bases in July is a very positive sign. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression but should expect him to remain with Double-A during the second half.

Detroit Tigers outfield prospect
Max Clark extended his hitting streak to three games at Double-A on Sunday afternoon. After going just 2-for-11 with a home run during his first three doubles with Double-A Erie, Clark has now tallied at least one hit in each of his last three. During this three-game stretch, Clark has gone deep once, tallied two RBI, and scored five runs. He has also swiped a bag. Clark is considered the No. 2-ranked prospect in Detroit, behind only infielder
Kevin McGonigle and the No. 11-ranked overall prospect on MLB.com. The former third overall pick opened the 2025 season with High-A West Michigan and posted a solid .285/.430/.427 line with an .857 OPS. Clark remains a top priority star in all dynasty leagues, as he is expected to make his MLB debut next season.

Cincinnati Reds second base/third base prospect
Sal Stewart hit his first Triple-A long ball on Sunday afternoon. Facing Triple-A Saint Paul, the No. 51-ranked prospect in baseball on MLB.com went 2-for-4 with a home run and a strikeout. After going just 1-for-9 in his first two games at the level, Stewart did not waste much time to make an impact. The No. 3-ranked prospect in the Cincinnati system opened the 2025 regular season with Double-A Chattanooga, where he posted an impressive .306/.377/.473 slash line with 19 doubles, 10 home runs, 13 stolen bases, and a 51:27 K:BB. Last season, Stewart spent all of his time with High-A and held a solid .845 OPS with a .279/.391/.454 line. Given his steady development, he could debut in Cincinnati later in the second half.

New York Yankees shortstop prospect
George Lombard Jr. went deep in his second-straight contest on Sunday during their game against Double-A Hartford. On Sunday, Lombard went 1-for-4 with a long ball. On Saturday facing Hartford, Lombard went 2-for-5 with a double and a long ball. Over his last 11 games, Lombard has tallied five extra-base hits while holding a .711 OPS. After starting the season with High-A, Lombard needed just 24 games to prove he was ready to make the jump to Double-A Somerset. However, the top-ranked prospect in the Yankee system has struggled to find his footing in the upper minor leagues. Through his first 60 games, the shortstop has held a .208/.328/.338 slash line. Given his struggles, he is expected to remain with Somerset throughout the entire second half.

Washington Nationals left-hander
MacKenzie Gore (4-9) posted his worst start of the season and took his ninth loss in an 8-1 blowout versus the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Gore lasted just 2 1/3 innings against his former team and coughed up eight earned runs on eight hits, including two homers, with three walks and two strikeouts. It was Gore's first time out since he pitched a perfect frame in the All-Star Game on Tuesday. Gore earned his way on the NL team with a 3.02 ERA in the first half of the season, but that number has quickly risen to a still-solid 3.59 as a result of Sunday's ugly showing. Also still sporting an above-average 1.27 WHIP and a terrific 140:38 K:BB, Gore will try to bounce back on the road against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.

Another day, another two home runs for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman
Eugenio Suarez. The 34-year-old went deep twice for the second game in a row in a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Suarez smashed a three-run bomb in the first inning and added a solo shot in the third, upping his National League-leading total to 35. He finished the game 2-for-4 to improve his line to .257/.328/.601 with 85 RBI and 63 runs scored in 403 plate appearances. Suarez now leads all of baseball in RBI and ranks behind only
Aaron Judge,
Cal Raleigh, and
Shohei Ohtani in slugging percentage. It's not often a hitter of that caliber switches teams during the season, but it could happen with rumors swirling around Suarez leading up to the July 31 trade deadline.

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect
Leodalis De Vries went 2-for-4, including a walk, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored on Sunday for High-A Fort Wayne. The Padres' top-ranked prospect is hitting better as of late, going 12-for-43 (.279) with four doubles, a triple, and two home runs in July. For the season, the switch-hitter is slashing .248/.359/.414 with seven home runs, and is posting better-than-average strikeout (20.3 percent) and walk rates (13.9 percent). The Dominican is doing this against pitchers more advanced than him, currently just 18 years of age, making it all the more impressive. The 6-foot-1 slugger has a bright future, which is one reason he is the third-ranked prospect in all of baseball, although he's still a couple of years away from the majors.
