Chase Burns to be Activated on Friday
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Chase Burns (elbow) is expected to be activated off the 15-day injured list ahead of Friday's game against the Athletics. Burns has been sidelined since early August due to a Grade 1 right elbow strain. He resumed throwing in mid-August and progressed to facing live hitters earlier this month. It appears he's going to skip a rehab assignment and take the ball against the A's later this week. Burns holds a rough 5.24 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 34.1 innings this season. However, Burns also has 57 strikeouts during that time and is one of the more intriguing young arms in the game. It's unclear if he's going to start or come out of the bullpen down the stretch of the season.
