Niko Goodrum To See Bulk Of Shortstop Work
6 years agoDetroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said that infielder Niko Goodrum will likely get the bulk of playing time at shortstop with Jordy Mercer (quadriceps) still out. Gordon Beckham, Ronny Rodriguez and Harold Castro will rotate at second base with Josh Harrison (hamstring) out another six to eight weeks. Goodrum has picked it up a bit of late but is still hitting only .244/.326/.416 with six home runs, 32 runs, 18 RBI and five stolen bases on the season. He's mostly useful in AL-only leagues for his positional eligibility and his speed, but the counting stats will leave a lot to be desired on a bad Detroit team.
