Testing on Monday revealed that San Francisco 49ers rookie first-rounder Mykel Williams (knee) suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's Week 9 win over the New York Giants, a source told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. The Niners feared on Sunday that Williams had torn his ACL, and their fears were realized on Monday. It's yet another devastating injury for a banged-up 49ers defense that also lost star pass-rusher Nick Bosa (knee) to a torn ACL earlier this year. The 21-year-old Williams was the 11th overall pick in April's draft. His first year in the NFL will come to an early end. He compiled 20 tackles (11 solo), one sack, four tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery in his first nine starts. Sam Okuayinonu will take on a bigger role as a pass-rusher for the Niners moving forward, but don't be surprised if the team looks to the trade market before Tuesday's deadline for defensive-line reinforcements.--Keith Hernandez
