Marvin Mims Jr. Won't Necessarily Have Bigger Role
1 year agoDenver Broncos rookie wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. had 113 receiving yards and a touchdown by the second quarter of the Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders, but he was not targeted after the second of his deep receptions and he only ran three routes in the second half and finished the game with 16 offensive snaps. "Some of it's coverage driven, and some of it is just based on what (personnel) we're in," head coach Sean Payton said as he attempted to explain why Mims was not featured again in the passing game after the midway point of the second quarter. Denver has played their rookies for 116 total snaps on offense, defense and special teams through two games, which is the fourth-fewest in the league. Mims has big-play potential, but his usage on offense won't immediately increase heading into Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins after his big game in Week 2.
