Justin Verlander Seeking Extension Before Season Starts
Justin Verlander are talking about a contract, and an extension would likely have to be completed before the club breaks camp for the regular season on Sunday. A two-year deal "for more than $60 million" is possible, according to MLB Network's Ken Rosenthal. The 36-year-old former American League MVP and Cy Young winner helped Houston win their first World Series in 2017 and went 16-9 with a 2.52 ERA in 2018 while also leading the AL in strikeouts (290) and quality starts (26) and finishing second in the AL Cy Young race. The veteran right-hander is set to become a free agent after the 2019 season. Verlander is RotoBaller's No. 4 fantasy starter.
