Jaleel McLaughlin Leads Backfield After Javonte Williams' Injury
1 year agoAn injury to Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams (hip) in the team's 31-28 come-from-behind victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 4 on Sunday allowed undrafted rookie Jaleel McLaughlin to have his biggest day as a professional. McLaughlin led the team with seven carries for 72 yards (10.3 yards per carry) and also caught all three of his targets for 32 yards and his second touchdown of the year. Samaje Perine had one fewer carry than McLaughlin, but he mustered only 12 yards on the ground. The 23-year-old's TD came on an 18-yard screen pass for the team's first score of the day. The Youngstown State product has probably already leapfrogged Perine on Denver's RB depth chart, and if Williams misses any time, McLaughlin will be in play as an RB3/flex for fantasy managers.
