The San Francisco Giants are set to announce the hiring of former San Diego Padres skipper Bob Melvin as their next manager, according to sources briefed on the matter. The Giants moved quickly on the three-time Manager of the Year once the Padres granted them permission to speak with Melvin, who had one year remaining on his contract in San Diego. Melvin was known to clash with general manager A.J. Preller during his time with the Friars. The soon-to-be 62-year-old is a Bay Area native and will be entering his 21st season as a big-league manager in 2024. Melvin won a Manager of the Year award during his five years with the Arizona Diamondbacks and won two more while leading the Oakland Athletics to the playoffs in six of his 11 seasons from 2011-21.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
