George Kittle Going On Injured Reserve
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that tight end George Kittle (foot) will go on Injured Reserve after suffering multiple breaks in his foot in the Week 8 loss to the Seahawks. "They told me eight weeks. Kittle says two, but that's how he rolls. That's why he'll go on IR and if it's better than what they're saying, he'll have a chance to come back this year, but eight weeks is eight weeks," Shanahan said. You should probably stash the elite tight end in an IR spot just in case he heals quickly and makes it back for the fantasy playoffs, but most likely we've seen the last of Kittle in 2020 for fantasy purposes. Ross Dwelley could be the team's top pass-catching tight end this Thursday against the Packers, but Jordan Reed (knee) is close to a return from IR. Reed is worth a pickup off the waiver wire in deeper leagues as a TE2 with upside once he's back to full speed.
