David Montgomery Will Practice Thursday
3 years agoUpdating a previous report, Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery (knee) will return from the Injured Reserve window and practice on Thursday. Montgomery was placed on IR with an MCL sprain in Week 5, and the Bears now have 21 days to activate him to the active roster. With Chicago's bye coming in Week 10, the safe money is on the Bears waiting to bring Montgomery back in Week 11. Rookie sixth-rounder Khalil Herbert has seen at least 18 carries in four games since Week 5, totaling 78 attempts for 344 yards and one touchdown on the ground while catching nine of 10 targets for an additional 44 yards with Montgomery out. He has surpassed Damien Williams on the depth chart and will once again be a strong usage-based RB2 in Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night if Montgomery isn't activated by then.
