Damiere Byrd 2022 NFL Player Outlook: A Clear Fade In Atlanta
2 years agoJourneyman wide receiver Damiere Byrd signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons this offseason. He will compete for the third or fourth wide receiver spot on the team against newly acquired Bryan Edwards, Auden Tate, KhaDarel Hodge, and Olamide Zaccheus. Byrd's best season came in 2020 with New England, where he had 47 receptions for 604 yards and one touchdown. While the negative game scripts could be there in the passing game for the Falcons to air it out, there is too much uncertainty around the Falcons quarterback situation to feel good about a player who is, at best, the third option on the team right now. Byrd is well behind tight end phenom Kyle Pitts and rookie Drake London in the Falcons' pecking order. London was drafted with the 8th overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, and it's evident he will be involved from the start. Byrd is a clear fade at this time, as it is difficult to envision him getting anywhere near the consistent volume to be relevant for fantasy on top of already not having an established quarterback.
