Chargers Hopeful Keenan Allen Will Play
Keenan Allen (illness) had a sore throat on Saturday but tested negative for COVID-19. However, he'll need to pass other COVID-19 tests before he's cleared to play in Week 9 against the division-rival Raiders, according to a source. The Chargers are hopeful that Allen will play, but they're also preparing for the possibility that he won't be active. Tight end Hunter Henry and receiver Mike Williams would benefit from more targets if Allen isn't cleared to play. Have a backup plan handy in case he can't go, but the team's No. 1 receiver has clear top-10 upside if he plays. Allen has been a top-10 wideout since rookie Justin Herbert made his debut.
