Browns Plan To Release Odell Beckham Jr. On Friday
3 years agoThe Cleveland Browns currently plan to release wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Friday, according to sources. The move is expected to be followed by a revised contract that reduces the Browns obligation to pay Beckham if he's not claimed on waivers and becomes eligible for the balance of his salary termination pay. He will be paid by the Browns for this week, but he could be with a new team by next week. The Browns attempted to trade OBJ before Tuesday's deadline but were unsuccessful, and Cleveland announced that he would no longer play for the team this year on Wednesday. Beckham has already been dropped in many fantasy leagues, as he caught just 17 of 34 targets for 232 scoreless yards in his six games. He's probably more of a long shot to resurface on the fantasy map in 12-team leagues, even if he latches on with another team.
