Brandon Pfaadt Starting Game 3 Of World Series
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks rookie right-hander Brandon Pfaadt is starting Game 3 of the World Series on Monday against the Texas Rangers. Pfaadt had a 5.72 ERA during the regular season in 19 games (18 starts), but he's peaking in his first postseason and has allowed only two runs in his last three playoff starts. The 25-year-old led the minors in strikeouts with 218 last year and was ranked the No. 33 prospect in all of baseball in May. In his MLB debut on May 3, Pfaadt was bashed for seven earned runs on nine hits (four home runs) while walking one and striking out three in 4 2/3 innings against the Rangers. After being sent to the minors for the second time, Pfaadt moved his position on the mound from the third-base side to the first-base side. The young hurler also has incorporated a sinker since his first stint in the bigs earlier this year. The two changes have helped his fastball and sweeper become more effective weapons.
