Rarely do you see a sack artist experience a true breakout at age 29, but that's exactly what Andrew Van Ginkel did. Despite playing in 73 games with 42 career starts in Miami, the former Dolphin only had 17 career sacks when he joined Minnesota as a free agent last offseason. However, the scheme of Minnesota Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores proved the perfect fit for the Clay Mathews lookalike. Van Ginkel started all 18 games for the Vikings last year, including the playoffs, and totaled 12.5 sacks. Better yet, he proved capable enough in run support to stay on the field for 81% of their defensive snaps. As a result, Van Ginkel finished as DL2 overall in fantasy points per game (Standard IDP Scoring) and DL1 overall in total points. While it's unlikely Van Ginkel will repeat as DL1 this year, especially with Dallas Turner reportedly making strides, there is reason to believe he can repeat as a top ten DL. Expect Van Ginkel's snaps to take a hit if Turner really is improving as reports suggest, but don't expect him to lose tackle opportunities. Further, one might even expect his pass rush efficiency to improve if the Vikings can keep their rotation fresh.--Chris Gregory - RotoBallerRead More News
