LIV Golf Betting Picks - 2025 Andalucía Preview and Best Bets

Matt Miller's LIV golf betting picks and betting strategies for 2025 Andalucía event at Valderrama Golf Club. He digs into the LIV golf betting lines to find the best bets and top values.

The LIV Golf League will hold this week’s event at Valderrama Golf Club in San Roque, Cadiz, Spain. Real Club Valderrama has hosted several prestigious events over the years, including the 1997 Ryder Cup, the Andalucía Masters, the Volvo Masters, the Ladies Spanish Open, the Open de España, the WGC-American Express Championship, and, beginning in 2023, the LIV Andalucía. Valderrama has consistently been ranked the number-one golf course in Spain and one of the top 100 courses in the world.

This week will mark LIV’s third stop at Valderrama. Sergio Garcia won last year in his home country with family present, finishing -5 on the week. Talor Gooch won the inaugural LIV event at Valderrama at a score of -12. Garcia spoke with the media before the 2023 event and expressed his excitement about the event being held at Valderrama, calling it “the best field that Valderrama has ever seen” and went on to say that the “fans and the course both deserve a field like this.”

The event will be played Friday-Sunday and will air on the CW Network in 100% of U.S. markets, as well as the Fox Sports App and LIV Golf Plus. Globally, the event will be broadcast in over 160 international territories live and on demand, via LIV Golf Plus.

LIV Golf Andalucía Course Breakdown

Below is the official Round 1 scorecard provided by LIV Golf.

Hole 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Out
Par 4 4 3 5 4 3 4 4 4 35
Yardage 399 421 187 564 381 173 490 351 441 3407
Hole 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 In
Par 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 5 4 36
Yardage 369 557 212 418 470 225 433 536 463 3603

Valderrama was constructed in 1974 and designed by architect Robert Trent Jones. It was acquired by James Ortiz-Patino in 1984, and the course was expanded and redesigned. Jones was brought back to help with the redesign process. The course will play as a 7010-yard par-71 this week. The fourth hole, La Cascada, is the signature hole on the course; it is the longest hole at Valderrama, featuring a difficult two-tiered green and a pond to the right.

While the distance isn’t going to blow anyone away, Valderrama is a challenging course. Garcia, who has had a ton of success at this course, including multiple wins, has discussed what it takes to win at Valderrama. He noted that “you have to drive the ball well” and that “you have to put the ball in the right spots. If you manage to do that, then you can score. If you don’t, it’s a grind.”

During its tenure of hosting an annual event on the DP World Tour, we have seen the winner at Valderrama get to as low as -19 and as high as +2. In 2023, Gooch was victorious in LIV’s inaugural event at Valderrama with a winning score of -12. Only three players scored better than six under for the week. Last season, Garcia defeated Anirban Lahiri in a playoff, winning at a score of -5.

The first key statistic I will be looking at this week is driving accuracy. It is nearly impossible to win at Valderrama if you are out of position off the tee. In 2023, Gooch finished the week first in the field in driving accuracy en route to his victory. Last season, Garcia finished the week eighth in fairway percentage, while his playoff partner, Lahiri, was second in the field for the week. Everyone in the top five of the 2024 leaderboard finished top-15 on the week in fairway accuracy.

The second stat I will be focusing on is scrambling. The course is tough, and the greens are small; guys are going to need to be able to scramble. When looking through last season's statistical breakdown of the event, the scrambling statistics were staggering. The top five finishers in the event were Garcia, Lahiri, Tyrrell Hatton, Patrick Reed, and Louis Oosthuizen, who finished in scrambling on the week: second, ninth, fourth, sixth, and third.

LIV Golf Betting Strategy and Selections - Andalucía

Abraham Ancer +2900 (FanDuel)

Abraham Ancer fits the mold for the type of player I am looking for this week at Valderrama. Ancer is one of the most accurate drivers of the golf ball in the world and rarely finds himself out of position off the tee. Despite consistently losing distance to the field, the 34-year-old has only lost strokes off the tee twice since last July. With distance not being a requirement at this course, I believe Ancer can go the Gooch route in winning this event, focusing on fairways and greens.

While it has been a little bit of an up-and-down year for Ancer, he seemed to have found his groove in his last start in Dallas. Ancer had his best approach week since February. He also turned in his best putting week since his February start, gaining over a stroke per round on the field. If the irons and putter stay hot for Ancer on a course that requires accuracy, he will surely be in the mix come Sunday.

Paul Casey +3300 (FanDuel)

I had a heartbreaking playoff loss in Dallas with Paul Casey, and even though the wounds are fresh, I am going back to the Englishman this week. The ball striking is too good to pass on at this number. I spoke about Casey's irons heating up before Dallas, and he surpassed my expectations. The veteran gained over two strokes per round against the field on approach.

The driving statistics are also highly encouraging to Casey, especially at a course that requires accuracy. He was first in the field last week in fairway percentage and ranks second on the entire season in the LIV Golf League in fairway percentage. With pinpoint accuracy and hot irons, Casey should find himself back in contention this weekend.

Dustin Johnson +4500 (FanDuel)

Hello darkness, my old friend. Nobody has burned me more in 2025 than DJ, but I just can't quit betting him. I said it before, and I'll repeat it: the signs are there. One of these weeks, the 4Aces captain is going to put three rounds together, and I'll be vindicated.

The two-time major champion has now gained strokes on approach in three straight starts, with last week marking his best approach week in his last 25 starts. DJ has spoken pretty consistently lately about his game feeling better and feeling like he's close to competing to win again. He has now gained on approach in three straight starts and off the tee in three out of his last four. The ball striking seems to be slowly coming together.

The question for DJ is whether the ball striking continues, which will be the short game. The 41-year-old has lost strokes around the green in seven consecutive starts, which is a recipe for disaster at Valderrama. Still, with ball striking trending up and the upside of a top-5 player in the field, it is hard to ignore Johnson at 45-1. He finished T17 and T8 at this event in the past two seasons.
