BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 5% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Rookie WR Josh Palmer, truth be told, wasn't much more than an afterthought prior to his Week 14 explosion. The Charged picked Palmer with a third-round selection, but only used in 197 snaps prior to that aforementioned W14 game. That means he was averaging a measly 20 snaps and appearing in just 29% of the offense's snaps until he was heavily used... and he surely proved his worth and upside.
Facing the Giants in W14, Palmer went on to play a then season-high 62 snaps to finish with 17.6 PPR points and a WR16 finish: 5 receptions on 7 targets for 66 yards and a TD (his second of the season) served him nicely. A dud (2.5 PPR) followed, but Palmer is now coming off another top-20 finish with 15.3 PPR points against the Texans last Sunday aided by the absences of Mike Williams and Jalen Guyton. Palmer caught 5-of-6 passes for 43 yards and another touchdown, his third of the year.
Palmer is, of course, a risky play come Championship weekend. He should only be targeted in deeper leagues by needy GMs, and that is even considering Williams and Guyton might still miss time with COVID issues as they might not clear the protocols by the time the ball flies next weekend. Palmer has shown a high ceiling, but he also comes with a ground-level floor that might be scary for those fighting for the championship in shallower formats.
