Jonatan Clase is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 9 (2024). Target Jonatan Clase as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for steals in fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Stash in Deeper Leagues
CALL-UP ETA: June-July
ANALYSIS: Jonatan Clase is a speed specialist, stealing 55 bases at Single-A in 2022 and another 79 between High-A and Double-A in 2023. He doesn't hit for a high batting average, with a career .253 BA over 1078 minor league at-bats, but you can't steal that many bases without getting on base. The switch-hitter does that by having patience at the plate, tallying no less than a 13.0% walk rate at Single-A or higher in the minors.
The 21-year-old earned a promotion to the majors on April 15 but was unable to replicate that success at the big league level, walking just twice over his 28 MLB plate appearances (3.6%) while striking out nine times (32.1%). The speedster stole a pair of bases while with the Mariners. On April 29 Clase was optioned back to Triple-A and after initially struggling, he's caught fire over the last seven games, hitting .370 (10-for-27) with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, a 6:4 BB:K, and three stolen bases.

If Clase can keep it up he should find himself back in Seattle sooner rather than later. A late June to early July recall is possible, especially if a first place Seattle team wants to spark an offense that is ranked fifth-worst in runs scored this season. Clase is available in nearly all Yahoo leagues for managers that want to stash a hitter that could make a significant impact in the stolen base category over the second-half of the season.

Chandler Simpson - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues CALL-UP ETA: July ANALYSIS: Unlike many players currently in the minor leagues, Chandler Simpson has proven he can be a valuable fantasy player at the MLB level. In his time in the majors, he hit .285 with 19 stolen bases in 35 games. Unfortunately, being a valuable fantasy player […]

Brady House - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: The Nationals went viral on social media this week for making a fun call-up. They called up their bat dog from Triple-A. While this was very cute and should improve the vibes a little bit in Washington, I don't think Bruce the Bat Dog will help […]

Samuel Basallo - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: Samuel Basallo might be the best hitter in the minors right now, and he has catcher eligibility. What more do you need to know (I know catcher is super deep this year, but still)? Basallo has been an age-to-level monster for the majority of his pro […]

Andrew Painter - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: Painter's last two starts don't give a ton of confidence that he is ready to be in the majors. It may not even be before the All-Star break before we see him, but that does not mean we are in stash territory. The good news is, […]

Colby Thomas - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues CALL-UP ETA: July ANALYSIS: The A's continue to lose, and Colby Thomas continues to hit homers in Triple-A. The A's just got swept by the Angels, bringing their record to 26-44. While plays like Denzel Clarke's HR robbery can generate a spark for a team, the A's might need […]
