Should I Drop Corey Davis?
If you're playing in a single-season fantasy league, you can safely drop Corey Davis this week due to his injury. He won't play again in 2021 -- Davis has officially been ruled out for the rest of the NFL season:
Davis aggravated a groin injury in Week 13 that had kept him from playing in Week 12, and he's since been put on Injured Reserve. He'll finish his first year in New York with 34 receptions on 59 targets for 492 yards and four touchdowns in nine games. When healthy, he was an excellent safety valve for rookie quarterback Zach Wilson as his No. 1 target.
Is Jamison Crowder Worth Picking Up?
Jamison Crowder feels a lot older than 28 years old, and he plays in the New York Jets offense. We get it. Not that sexy. He had just one catch for five yards when Davis missed the Week 12 win over the Houston Texans.
But here are the reasons why Crowder is worth a waiver wire pickup:
1) In a two-game span with Davis out earlier this year, he benefitted with 13 receptions for 122 yards on 16 targets. He also had four catches on six targets for 62 yards last Sunday when Davis left the game early.
2) He has at least four receptions in seven of his nine games this year and has just three fewer targets than Davis in the same number of games (nine).
3) Quarterback Zach Wilson hasn't been great by any means in his rookie season, but he's looked more comfortable of late and will certainly look to Crowder more often in the final five games of 2021.
Who Else Might Benefit From Corey Davis' Injury?
Rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore has come on strong in the second half and is now the team's unquestioned No. 1 receiver. The 21-year-old has scored five touchdowns in the last five games, has double-digit targets in two of his last three games, and had a season-high 141-yard performance in Week 11. Moore has become a locked-in WR2.
Keelan Cole, who missed Week 13 due to COVID-19, Braxton Berrios, and Denzel Mims will battle for more playing time now, but this offense can't support more than two fantasy-relevant receivers.
Tight end Ryan Griffin might bear watching, although he suffered an ankle injury last Sunday. With Trevon Wesco (ankle) and Tyler Kroft (chest) sidelined, rookie Kenny Yeboah is the only other TE on the active roster.
