Gus Edwards is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: After J.K. Dobbins unfortunately suffered a season-ending torn Achilles, Gus Edwards quickly entered the fantasy radar for 2023. While Justice Hill scored two rushing touchdowns, Edwards led the running back room in rushing yards with eight carries for 32 yards in the win over the Houston Texans.
Ultimately, Edwards and Hill will likely split carries moving forward, and Edwards has played over Hill in each of the last three seasons. Both running backs are worth picking up to see what the touch distribution will look like, but Edwards might be the slim favorite to take over the RB1 job.
The Baltimore offense didn't look like a juggernaut in Week 1, but it was missing Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews, and Lamar Jackson returned to the field after a long absence.
Expect the Ravens offense to get rolling, meaning Edwards should have plenty of touchdown upside. Hopefully, Baltimore doesn't sign or trade for another running back that would extinguish his value.
