EU Masters DFS Picks (5/9/20) - DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends Daily Fantasy

Jason Malmanger's expert League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for EU Masters slates on 5/9/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Welcome back RotoBallers to my League of Legends DFS column! We will continue to extend our analysis for LoL DFS across different leagues and sites, bringing you the insight you need to succeed. Thanks once again for the outpouring of support from the DFS and eSports communities. I can't thank you enough for the kind words on Twitter, and your support has afforded me the opportunity to write about something I love every day.

We're down to the Final Four of the EU Masters. The Spring season is coming to a close, but there are still some massive contests posted in the FanDuel, and DraftKings lobbies, including the 15-dollar Shock Blast that pays 25K to first place!

Today, I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and lineup picks for the EU Masters slates on DraftKings and FanDuel that lock at 12:00 PM ET on Saturday, May 9th, 2020. Make sure you are following me on Twitter @Mr_Malmanger as I often post starting lineups when I see them and other useful info for the slate.

12:00 PM: Rogue (-130) vs. LDLC

These two teams face off in what is a rematch of the tiebreaker final for Group B, and in case you don't remember LDLC took that win to secure first in their group. Even with this being a rematch, it is difficult to rely on the 2-1 heads up record that LDLC holds over Rogue.

One of those victories was handed to LDLC on a silver platter by a horrendous positioning error by Woolite in the late game. LDLC is also a team I have struggled to project this entire tournament, and this semifinal match is no different. Every time I think I have a lean, I look at another stat, metric, or piece of game film, and it flips my choice.

I've got to land somewhere and by a hair, I think LDLC will win this. The pricing for this slate will almost allow you to do anything you want and still get a mid-laner or jungle into the captain slot, so I don't think you need to have a dog to build a very viable lineup.

I like LDLC here for several reasons - they have better objective control; they have a slightly better rift herald percentage. They translate that into a somewhat better first turret %, and that then into slightly better gold generation numbers. LDLC is also the more proficient dragon team on the year, but the most significant difference is in the team's baron percentage.

In their home regions, LDLC holds a 6% differential, but within the tournament, they are exerting an 80% baron take, while Rogue only sits at 48%. I think a lot of that has to do with the jungle matchup, where I favor Tynx over Zanzarah.

Rogue also doesn't prioritize carry style junglers within the draft phases, neither picking nor banning them. They tend to focus more on getting a favorable matchup for Woolite, getting him onto a late-game carry. I think Tynx is good for one win on his own, and Wollite's tendency to get caught too far forward is good for another, giving LDLC the 2-1 here.

This match should be the more action-packed of the two on Saturday with both Rogue and LDLC averaging over 20 deaths in their losses. As I stated, it's razor-thin as to who wins, and both sides are definitely in play.

Tynx - JNG ($6,200 DraftKings, $8,900 FanDuel)

Interesting that FanDuel has LDLC as the most expensive players on the slate, and DraftKings the cheapest. I side with FD here as I think that Tynx is the pivot point for this matchup, and as he leads all junglers remaining in the tournament in kill participation and kill share by a wide margin, he warrants consideration as a one-off. I like his opposite number as well if taking the favorites here.

Hades - ADC ($7,000 DraftKings, $10,300 FanDuel)

The new kid on the block for the side of LDLC is the ADC Hades, having joined at the end of March. I suspect a lot of attention will be paid to the bot side of the map from both sides. Tynx and Zanzarah are the second and third highest junglers in first blood in the tournament, and Woolite and Mystiques are both first for ADC and SUP. Hades will be busy on Saturday morning.

3:00 PM: Movistar Riders (-135) vs. K1ck Neosurf

I like MSR here but they are working with razor-thin margins against the feisty Polish K1ck team that has made one heck of a run through this tournament. I lean MSR here only because of their superior drake control, which gives them an advantage in the macro game. K1ck plays a very aggressive style of play, and it has suited them well so far in the tournament but it also leaves them very vulnerable if they can't win team fights.

MSR are the better overall team, but there's nothing wrong with targeting K1ck here either and hoping they can keep their momentum going with a win and birth in the finals (if Rogue wins it would be an all-Polish final!) MSR did win two of their three matches against K1ck in group play and with this series being the best of three, I think they have the ability to withstand a big game from K1ck and still win the other two games.

Elyoya - JNG ($6,600 DraftKings, $8,800 FanDuel)

The MSR jungler has a strong 70% kill percentage and is very much involved with their gameplan. If they are going to win, he's going to be a big part of it. He has a solid champion pool and can carry early with Graves or late with Karthus.

Javaa - ADC ($7,600 DraftKings, $10,400 FanDuel)

Javaa is sporting a tournament-best 37.6% kill share and has the potential for some huge kill numbers due to how bloody K1ck matches can get. He's coming off a big performance against Fnatic in the knockout round and he should be one of the highest-scoring players on the slate if MSR wins this matchup.

Summary

  1. We're all pretty familiar with two-game slates by now, so anything goes. I like the second match to be the bloodier one and more fantasy-friendly.
  2. The change to the best of three format takes game stacks out of play for me, but it could make an expensive one-off a good play.
  3. Today's matches might be another good GPP slate as both matches could swing either way, even though I like LDLC and MRS to win.
