DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/3/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Robbie Ray - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, Draft Sleepers

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on September 3rd, 2022. Thunder Dan's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Saturdays are still for baseball all-day if you ask me, but I suppose if you are a big college football fan then you are probably pretty pumped about kick-off weekend, too. My PSU Nittany Lions already won on Thursday night, so I have no interest in college football today, but I always have an interest in betting on baseball props and building DFS lineups!

The games are a bit chopped up today, but we still have a pretty solid 9-game main slate set for the evening and that's the one I will be breaking down here for you. Make sure to check the weather always, but as of right now it doesn't look like any real major issues to worry about on that front (pun intended).

As always, this article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Saturday's main slate locks at 7:05 EST on 9/3/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options, and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack! You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

If you like data, here are some projections for today's starting pitchers. Green is good for the pitcher, while red is bad!

Robbie Ray @ CLE ($9,800 DK, $10,700 FD)

It can feel dangerous to go right back to the same pitcher facing the same team two times in a row, but I'm going to do it with Ray against the Guardians today. Ray turned his season around in mid-June and has been one ultra-reliable for Seattle over the last two months. Seriously, his only "bad starts" have been against Houston, who he can't seem to figure out as they've beaten him three times.

Ray dominated this Cleveland team last week with seven strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. While Cleveland is a tough team to whiff, they are much tougher on righties than lefties and their overall offensive numbers are bleak against LHP. They're struggling at the plate right now, and Ray is in great form. I'll take him over the other aces on the slate, with Dylan Cease being a closer runner-up for me.

Luis Garcia @ LAA ($7,600 DK, $9,300 FD)

Garcia's DK price is criminal. I realize he's fallen off a bit over the last month, but he is still a pretty solid pitcher who can rack up strikeouts in good spots and this is the best spot for strikeouts on the board. Garcia went six strong innings with seven strikeouts the last time he faced the Halos, and despite their recent success (Angels are 5-2 over their last seven), their offense still hasn't done much other than a few big games in Toronto. I realize Ohtani on the mound for the Angels lowers the win equity for Garcia here, but I'll happily play him at this price knowing that he has 20+ DK point upside in this match-up even without a 4-point win.

Austin Voth vs. OAK ($5,200 DK, $7,200 FD)

I'm not sure why the DK algo hates Voth, but this price is just downright stupid. He's averaged 17.2 DK points per start over his last six starts and is facing one of the worst offenses in baseball - the Oakland Athletics. He probably tops out around 4-6 strikeouts, but Voth has been pitching deeper into games and has some nice win equity here as he's backed by a very solid Baltimore offense. He's finished five innings in six straight starts and even if he doesn't dominate, he's going to put up at least 10-12 DK points, which at this price makes him one of the better values on the slate. Roll out Voth as your SP2 and use the savings to spend up on some bats!

Also consider - Dylan Cease vs MIN, Edward Cabrera @ ATL

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Pete Alonso - 1B, NYM vs. Patrick Corbin ($5,500 DK, $3,700 FD)

It's Patrick Corbin day, so we are going to like some Mets today, right? I don't think I've missed an Alonso-Corbin match-up now in like three years ever since Pete double-donged off Corbin and helped me take down a tournament (props to JD Davis, too, but he's out in San Fran now). Corbin stinks, there's no sugarcoating it and even if you want to fade a chalky Mets stack, you should still roll out Pete as your one-off. He smashes lefties and I've said it before - his BvP against Corbin is backed by actual predictive data - his batted ball results against sinkers and sliders from lefties. At least bet his HR prop at +260, okay!

Gunnar Henderson - SS, BAL vs. Adam Oller ($2,800 DK, $2,600 FD)

Adam Oller somehow threw eight innings of shutout baseball against the Yankees. I don't think that means he's good, it just means the Yankees are mired in one of the worst slumps we've seen this year from a team of good hitters. To his credit, Oller also pitched well against Texas recently, but his overall stats still suggest he is a below-average pitcher.

The Orioles are a team I like today and there's no better value in this lineup than rookie Gunnar Henderson. The prospect wasted no time making a big impact as he's already homered and stolen a base while hitting .417 in his first three games. He's a no-brainer for me in cash, this kid has serious tools and he's far too cheap for his talent and this solid match-up.

Tommy Edman - 2B/SS, STL vs. Drew Smyly ($5,000 DK, $3,700 FD)

I'm not sure if I will fire up a full Cardinals stack against Smyly or not just yet (he silenced them in his last start) as he's pitching well right now. But one red bird I am going to use is the red-hot Tommy Edman. He homered again yesterday and extended his hitting streak to five games. In that five-game stretch, he has three doubles, two home runs, and seven RBI. It doesn't matter if he's leading off or hitting near the bottom of the order, he has power and speed and I don't think too many people will pay all the way up for him here.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Mitch Haniger - OF, SEA vs. Xzavion Curry ($5,400 DK, $3,100 FD)

I'd target Haniger on FanDuel first, where they have been slow to price him up despite his solid output over the last few weeks. This Seattle offense is firing on all cylinders right now and I definitely want some shares of the Mariners as they are getting a Triple-A level arm on the mound for Cleveland in Curry. Haniger has only about 100 plate appearances against RHH so far since he missed all that time, but has posted a very respectable .335 wOBA and .232 ISO. He also has four hits in his last ten at-bats, does that officially qualify him as "hot?" I'll ask Jon Anderson.

Mookie Betts - OF, LAD vs. Sean Manaea ($6,400 DK, $4,700 FD)

Mookie has been just other-worldly against LHP this season and is now up to a .419 wOBA and .309 ISO. He's quite literally doing a little of everything, hitting for power, drawing walks, driving in runs - you name it. At times, he's even carried this offense. I really don't care how much he costs today, he's a priority for play against Manaea, who has been knocked around by the Dodgers this year to the tune of 14 earned runs over 8 innings in two starts.

Hunter Renfroe - OF, MIL vs. Madison Bumgarner ($4,200 DK, $3,700 FD)

Renfroe is a guy with a long history of great platoon splits against lefties, and he should bat clean-up for the Brew Crew today against the southpaw Bumgarner. His history against Bummy is pretty dang solid, too, as he's hitting .333 off him in 21 career at-bats with three home runs. Renfroe is in great form, too, as he's riding an 8-game hitting streak and has seen his average climb all the way up to .259. He's usually a boom/bust type play who is reliant on home runs for fantasy points and is best-suited for tournaments, but he actually hasn't posted a zero in his game log since August 20th. He's a bargain on DK at this price compared to other power hitters with his splits.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here are my top stacks for tonight (in the order in which I like them)

  • L.A. Dodgers (5.2 implied run total) vs. Sean Manaea (4.58 xFIP)
  • New York Mets (5.5 implied run total) vs. Patrick Corbin (4.83 xFIP)
  • Baltimore Orioles (4.9 implied run total) vs. Adam Oller (6.65 xFIP)

I hope I gave you a head start on your research today and I wish you the best of luck! If you ever have questions about DFS or fantasy baseball, my DMs are always open and I appreciate you taking the time to read my picks today.
