DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (7/9/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Brandon Woodruff - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on July 9, 2022. Thunder Dan's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Saturdays and Sundays are made for day baseball and we are getting another big late afternoon slate today with a 9-game 4:05 slate on both sites and only four games in the evening. For the sake of my own sanity (and yours), I am going to focus on that slate only with these picks today.

Yesterday, we saw some chalk hit hard as the Yankees and Braves both put up double digits. I had shares of both offenses but didn't run them together anywhere - sigh. My top pitcher, Lucas Giolito looked like he was on cruise control until he allowed five earned runs in the sixth and seventh innings. At least he had 8 strikeouts and salvaged his score in the process. I have to toot my own horn on the Michael Harris II call, the dude was awesome again, going 4 for 4 and finishing a triple shy of the cycle!

As always, this article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Saturday's early slate locks at 4:05 EST on 7/9/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options, and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack! You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Brandon Woodruff vs. PIT ($10,000 DK, $10,000 FD)

I think it's a good decision to pay up for a pitcher on FanDuel today, and for at least one of the top two aces on DK. Those would be Woody here against the Pirates and Valdez on the road against the A's. If I have to pick one, it's Woody, who has looked fantastic in two starts since returning from the IL. He struck out 10 Rays in five innings and then eight Pirates in six clean innings last time out. He got his pitch count up to 94 in that last outing, so he should be good to go for a full workload today. 10k is a very fair price for a huge home favorite with a strikeout projection over 7, this spot is fantastic.

Patrick Sandoval @ BAL ($7,400 DK, $9,400 FD)

Sandoval is a guy I was really big on coming into this season, and while he's been pretty solid, I think he's still only scratching the surface of how good he could be. He still struggles with walks and has failed to take that next step of being a guy you can count on to give you six strong innings every time out.

But this match-up is one I can't ignore, the Orioles are simply not good against LHP and we saw his teammate Reid Detmers have himself quite a performance last night with his strong offspeed stuff. Sandoval has 7-8 strikeout upside here and is my favorite SP2 on DK.

Also consider - Framber Valdez @ OAK, Triston McKenzie @ KC

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Kris Bryant - 3B/OF, COL vs. Madison Bumgarner ($4,400 DK, $3,300 FD)

While the Rockies might be without C.J. Cron tonight, they'll still have a strong lineup to face Mad Bum anchored by the red-hot Kris Bryant. Two more home runs last night, and he's finally coming on strong here in July after he missed an entire month. You can pencil him at third base on FD with his dual eligibility and take advantage of the fact that his price has been slow to catch up to his current production.

Carson Kelly - C, ARI vs. Kyle Freeland ($2,600 DK, $2,400 FD)

I have to recommend another catcher today after my dude Cal Raleigh didn't make the lineup last night (sorry about that). Kelly was invisible for most of the season until recently, when he's started to flash the type of power that we saw against lefties in the past. This is a guy who was leading off and hitting cleanup at various points over the last two years and a lot of folks . Well, I didrobably forgot that. Well, I didn't! Kelly is dirt cheap still, even in a good spot here against lefty Kyle Freeland and I'm banking on him keeping his solid recent stretch going today.

Brendan Rodgers - 2B, COL vs. Madison Bumgarner ($4,400 DK, $3,200 FD)

Circling back to the Rockies, we will probably see Rodgers hit cleanup today for Colorado, especially if Cron is out. He's been impressive this year against lefties with a .419 wOBA and a .226 ISO. Mad Bum hasn't been blown up lately, but he's still a guy I want to pick on as he walks too many guys and is still giving up a lot of loud contact. I think the Rockies get to him today and I want Rodgers and his elite splits against lefties as a core piece of my Colorado stack.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Mike Trout - OF, LAA vs. Dean Kremer ($5,700 DK, $3,900 FD)

I can't really remember the last time Trout was under 4k on FD and 6k on DK, but that's the case here and I can't imagine it's going to last long. He snapped out of his cold stretch last night with a home run off Tyler Wells and improved his splits against righties (now at .358 ISO). Kremer has some serious regression coming on his 2.48 ERA as his xFIP sits at 5.38. He didn't morph into a good pitcher overnight, and Trout usually feasts on mediocre RHP. He could be ready to go on another run, buy low while you can.

Marcell Ozuna - OF, ATL vs. Patrick Corbin ($4,000 DK, $3,200 FD)

Not much stands out about Ozuna's splits against lefties this season, but he started so slow that his numbers are pretty much down across the board. He's been much better the last few weeks and I like his profile the most of any Atlanta hitter today against Corbin's primary pitches (sinker and slider).

Kyle Garlick - OF, MIN vs. Martin Perez ($3,000 DK, $2,300 FD)

I don't care if Martin Perez throws a perfect game in every start the rest of the season, I am not sure I will ever be convinced he is an elite pitcher! Okay, that's obviously an exaggeration, but still...not a single baseball analyst I have talked to this season understands how Perez has been good for this long. I am not saying let's stack up the Twins today (but you certainly could), but I do see some merit in targeting one-offs against Perez with Byron Buxton and Garlick standing out as the guys with elite splits against LHP.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here are my top stacks for tonight (in the order in which I like them)

  • Atlanta Braves (6.0 implied run total) vs. Patrick Corbin (4.73 xFIP)
  • Colorado Rockies (4.4 implied run total) vs. Madison Bumgarner (5.58 xFIP)
  • Houston Astros (5.3 implied run total) vs. Zach Logue (6.36 xFIP)

The Braves should be chalk, but it's hard to see them letting down against Corbin. The Astros have laid a few eggs this year against left-handed pitching, but Logue has been bad and the bullpen backing him in Oakland is equally bad.

The Rockies are my sneaky stack here and while no Cron could be a bummer, I still like the idea of using Bryant, Connor Joe, and Brendan Rodgers to anchor that stack.

I hope I gave you a head start on your research today and I wish you the best of luck! If you ever have questions about DFS or fantasy baseball, my DMs are always open and I appreciate you taking the time to read my picks today.
