BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 3% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: One thing has been made clear throughout the season: no quarterback from the 2021 class has played to any substantially good levels in their freshman campaign. It looked like the Patriots might have stolen the best passer of them all, but at the end of the day, the results weren't that great. The same can be said about Houston's Davis Mills, who thanks to a second-half spurt is this close to getting away with the Best Freshman QB of the year. And you better be taking advantage of his wide availability entering Championship week.
First of all, you shouldn't be risking your biscuit at the QB position. In other words: target Mills only if you play in a 2QB/Superflex format league and need a secondary player to accompany your starting quarterback. The numbers say that Mills has been a top-15 quarterback in four of the past five slates he's been part of, yes. That would put Mills into 14+ Team leagues' territory when it comes to WW targets and potential starters, but with this being the last round of waivers before the championship is handed out, you should err on the safe side of things.
Now, that said, Mills has thrown five touchdowns in the past three games against just one interception. He's completed at least 63% of his pass attempts in those three matches, reached 209+ yards while topping at 331 back on Week 14, and put up 18, 15.6, and 18.1 in his past three games. There aren't equally good QBs available in virtually every league at this point into the season, and Mills should come with as much upside as anyone for a superb QB2/Superflex play facing the not-so-great 10th-best D against fantasy quarterbacks next week.
