CFB DFS Rankings for Week 1 - Daily Fantasy College Football (Saturday, 8/31/24)

Will Howard - College Football Rankings, NCAA CFB DFS Lineup Picks

Brad's CFB DFS rankings for Week 1 on 8/31/24. His daily fantasy college football rankings for QBs, RBs, and WRs and the DFS slates on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Well, folks, we did it, the long offseason is over and we have reached the first full week of college football! Last weekend was a nice appetizer, but our first true slate should be a fun one as we have some big-time schools and names, while also mixing in some less well-known teams.

As is the case each year in college fantasy football, Week 1 can be a bit of a guessing game. With the amount of impact transfers, injury concerns, and some big point spreads, it is always difficult to predict the first few weeks of the season.

In this article below, you will find my CFB DFS lineup picks for Week 1 (Saturday, August 31) via my positional college football rankings. Use these CFB DFS rankings when building daily fantasy college football on DraftKings, and be sure to read the rest of our CFB DFS articles and CFB betting articles as well. Good luck, RotoBallers!

CFB DFS Quarterback Rankings

QB Cash Rankings Per $ QB GPP Rankings Per $
1 Kyron Drones 1 Cam Ward
2 Will Howard 2 Kyron Drones
3 Alan Bowman 3 Dylan Raiola
4 Cam Ward 4 Will Howard
5 Quinn Ewers 5 Garrett Greene
6 Garrett Greene 6 Quinn Ewers
7 Carson Beck 7 B. Fowler-Nicolosi
8 B. Fowler-Nicolosi 8 Alan Bowman
9 Mark Gronowski 9 Nick Evers
10 Drew Allar 10 Mark Gronowski

This should be a fun week for rostering quarterbacks, as there are some high-profile names in the running for the Heisman, while also a few options who may put up nice stats in blowout losses.

Kyron Drones is your prototypical do-it-all college quarterback, one who is capable of both the 100-yard rushing and 300-yard passing bonuses. Known quantities like Will Howard, Cam Ward, Quinn Ewers, and Carson Beck round out an easy-to-pick-from cash game pool.

In GPPs, we are a bit left in the dark as some good options are simply unknown quantities due to a lack of information. Teams such as Maryland and Vanderbilt are in solid fantasy spots but have refused to name a starter.

It will be interesting to see how Matt Rhule handles star freshman Dylan Raiola in his first game, he may let him put up a few extra stats in a blowout to get his confidence built for the season.

CFB DFS Running Back Rankings

RB Cash Rankings Per $ RB GPP Rankings Per $
1 LeQuint Allen 1 LeQuint Allen
2 Ollie Gordon II 2 Ollie Gordon II
3 Jaydon Blue 3 Quinshon Judkins
4 Damien Martinez 4 Jaydon Blue
5 Gabe Ervin Jr. 5 Cam Edwards
6 Bhayshul Tuten 6 Bhayshul Tuten
7 Quinshon Judkins 7 Roman Hemby
8 Desmond Reid 8 Damien Martinez
9 Keyon Mozee 9 Desmond Reid
10 TreVeyon Henderson 10 Branson Robinson

Running back in cash games may be incredibly easy this week on DraftKings as they made an error in pricing on LeQuint Allen for Syracuse. He will easily be the highest owned back in cash, and combined with star Ollie Gordon II and Jaydon Blue being underpriced for his new role, this trio will surely be a popular one in cash.

In GPPs, Allen remains a strong option, but there are certainly ways to differentiate your lineups. Ohio State has a massive team total and two superstar running backs, it will be a guessing game as to how it will split the work early in the season. Also, one note to keep an eye on, if Trevor Etienne is suspended for Georgia, Brandon Robinson becomes a sneaky GPP play under $5K.

CFB DFS Wide Receiver Rankings

WR Cash Rankings Per $ WR GPP Rankings Per $
1 Oronde Gadsden II 1 Tory Horton
2 Tory Horton 2 Brennan Presley
3 Xavier Restrepo 3 Jaden Smith
4 Brennan Presley 4 Rashod Owens
5 Ali Jennings 5 Xavier Restrepo
6 Jahmal Banks 6 Oronde Gadsden II
7 Konata Mumpfield 7 Emeka Egbuka
8 Elijah Badger 8 Jeremiah Smith
9 Matthew Golden 9 Jacolby George
10 Jaden Smith 10 Jahmal Banks

New position, same story on DraftKings as star tight end Oronde Gadsden II for Syracuse is criminally mispriced and will be massively owned in cash games. It is a bit scary to roster two Syracuse players; however, their prices certainly let you fit in other strong pieces.

Tory Horton and Xavier Restrepo are also incredibly safe options as both are returning to their teams after big stat years last season and both have known quantities at quarterback.

In GPPs, look to Ohio State or Oklahoma State wideouts, as both teams have huge implied team totals. While their running backs are the stars of the show, do not be surprised to see one of the OSU wideouts pop. Jaden Smith is interesting after a massive year at Eastern Kentucky. He now is at UTEP, which should be throwing much of the game.
