Brian Thomas Jr.s fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 11 (2024). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Brian Thomas Jr. for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Sit in 10-team leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3/flex
ANALYSIS: Brian Thomas Jr. was looking like one of the biggest fantasy steals through the first eight weeks of the season, posting huge numbers to start his rookie campaign. The big target from LSU was the WR5 in that timespan, ranking 2nd in yards per reception (17.3 - minimum 25 catches), 6th in yards (72/game), and 3rd in touchdowns (5). Thomas Jr. was pacing all rookies in nearly every receiving metric.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder against Philly in Week 8 and missed the game this past Sunday vs. Minnesota. He's also already been ruled out again for the upcoming David vs. Goliath battle at Detroit. The quarterback change has unfortunately caused Thomas Jr's stock to plummet. Mac Jones stepped into the starting role against the Vikings and was abysmal, throwing for 111 yards and 2 interceptions on 14 completions. Thomas only say three targets in the contest and caught two of them for 12 yards, all season lows. It's a small sample size, but the bottom line is that Thomas Jr. cannot be fully trusted if the quarterback play is going to be that bad.
While the offense is not fantasy friendly at the moment, the Jaguars are a huge underdog this week on the road at -14, which means Thomas Jr. will likely be in a positive game script the entire afternoon. Detroit is also one of the league's worst pass defenses, which gives Thomas Jr. a tinge of upside here. He is definitely still viable, but a risky flex play for Week 11.
Brian Thomas jr. has accounted for 25.6% of the Jaguars air yards, the highest share among Jaguars receivers.
However, Thomas has not been targeted on a deep pass in the last two games (Weeks 9-10) after recording 11 deep targets in Weeks 1-8. pic.twitter.com/Rr5WAvctdB
